if that was the final outcome of Houston's draft, I think i'd probably cry myself to sleep after slamming my junk in a drawer. If we are going to take a risk on a boom or bust prospect, let's go with the guy who plays like he cares and has shown some measure of killer instinct. Harkless over Perry Jones please.
Even this guy mentions the fact we are known for our assets, damn you Morey!!! Ross I like, Jones hell no!
Hate both those selections. PJ3 is going to be a bust, and I’m not feeling Ross either...Tired of these shooting guards that can’t handle the ball. We need a dynamic wing who can create off the dribble!
Gonna go against the grain here and say that I would be thrilled with this outcome. We would ofcourse need to move some SF/PF players to fill the hole at backup PG.
Interestingly, Amick says in today's Mock Draft 2.0 that the Kings are really high on Tyler Zeller. I'm wondering if the Rockets could entice the Kings to trade them the #5 pick in exchange for a package involving the #14 pick, with the sales pitch that Zeller could be available at #14. Or perhaps a conditional deal is made, whereby the Kings select a guy that both they and the Rockets like, with the deal only being consummated if Zeller's still on the board at #14. (Of course, this would presuppose that both Sacramento and Houston love the same guy at #5, since there's no way the Kings don't take the guy highest on their board for just the CHANCE at a later trade.)
he is dumb as dirt...but that does not mean he doesn't know how to play the game and cant be good. i havent seen him play much...but just saying.
Damn, I forgot he was the 14th pick... Touche. haha. However, for every 1 Clydes there are, there's 50 _________ (insert name of someone you've never heard of that was picked 14 or beyond).
Having trouble buying this. Kings love Drummond. Now they love Zeller. Just don't believe it. Both guys play the same position as Cousins. Which is to say, they are centers. Cousins plays center. Zeller and Drummond make no sense unless they are trading Cousins. So, perhaps, Cousins to the Rox and #14 (Zeller) and Lowry to the Kings? Plus maybe somebody else to the Kings (#16 too)? The other possibility is perhaps Thornton for Dally and the #14 pick? So, Sacramento can trade #14, #5, and Dally for #2, and a bad contract like Ty Thomas. Would you trade #14 for Marcus Thornton?
Derrick Rose says hi. Plus, I wouldn't say Lamb is dumb, just really laid back and not really thrilled about being on camera/getting interviewed.
Not sure about Cousins-Drummond, but I think a Cousins-Zeller frontcourt could work. I also think it will take more than Lowry and #14 to get Cousins. More like, say Lowry, Scola, Bud, #14 for Cousins, Garcia. I would not trade Dalembert & #14 pick for Thornton. It's not a move that we would benefit from. Thornton's high salary makes him tough to reroute to another team and he's not enough of a difference maker to justify losing your cap flexibility and the #14 pick.
Can the draft just happen already? I'd hate to think all this speculating I've been doing has been for naught if we trade away our picks
What's the problem with playing Cousins at the 4? He's not going to give you enough at or above the rim plays to classify him as only a center. He's not even 6'11. Having someone taller will take a lot of pressure off of him, especially defensively. Cousins and either of those two would be a hell of a frontline.
because quincy miller sucks and was horrible in his pre draft workouts.. oh, and he did NOTHING in college either.. people are saying ok he has all this potential yet never shows it in actual games.. this is my issue with Perry Jones.. he's 6-11 and is a perimeter big man, yet never took over any games and has no post up game.. waste of a lottery pick? umm yes
This was how the Eddie Griffin draft day trade went down. New Jersey drafted Eddie Griffin and was willing to trade him to the Rockets as long as the guys they wanted were available when the Rockets drafted. Essentially the Rockets were just drafting guys that New Jersey told them to draft. After the 3rd Rockets 1st round draft pick that night the trade was announced.
I'm pretty sure the Eddie Griffin trade would have been consummated even had Brandon Armstrong (amazingly?) been off the board before #23. Perhaps it was contingent on Richard Jefferson being available at #13, but I'm not even sure that's true. These sorts of trades get done, with the team trading away the higher pick not always knowing exactly who will be available at the later picks they are acquiring but rather being confident that they will be able to choose from among an acceptable pool of remaining players given their draft board.
And then there's the other kind of trade, like when Minnesota picked Brandon Roy 6th, and agreed to swap him for the 8th pick as long as their guy Randy Foye was still around when Houston drafted. Good job, good effort, Daryl and Kevin.
