The only people who care about public perception of who-came-up-with-what-first are whiny fanboys who's opinions aren't going to change no matter what. The rest of the world doesn't care at all, so I'm not sure why any of the companies would be worried about their public perception here.

not impressed with new iOS6, still no widgets, lack of better options for keeping up with your apps (still the homescreen app wall and one folder)

    Oh well.

It's more of a knock on the people who constantly rave about how innovative and "new" Apple products are, when really they just have combined multiple features that were originally stand-alone offers/accessories from other companies.

The greatest thing Apple ever did was to combine the mp3 player with a smart phone. An underestimated and simple move, yet innovative and "new." They can't replicate such a genius combination and so they mix things around every few months, tweak the specs, and voila! you have the Iphone 8.

I would have gotten an Iphone a long time ago had they been with Sprint. Now that the Android can store and play a decent enough music I have no need for it though.

Not really. If Apple shifts from being perceived as a company innovating on the cutting edge, to a "me too" company after Jobs departure it won't be good. Marketing has been Apple's wheelhouse and marketing has a wee bit to do with public perception.

I can't tell from your comment, but do you use the folders feature on the iPad (iPhone)? I have most of my apps separated into appropriately named folders.

To speak further on this, here is an excerpt from CNN article today. You notice that Jobs was extremely pissed over what he thought was Google stealing features for Android. And yet Apple has stolen plenty throughout the years.

Yet another avoidance which pretty much equals your concession at this point. Done.

BTW you and sajan make wonderful partners w/ your clever retorts.

what am i avoiding? You were talking about how your old phone cannot run the latest OS. I said that isn't big deal because running new software on old hardware isn't a great idea. Why are you like Francis in people quoting you? Are they copyright? I am trying to make fun of you being mad for some reason that no one understands.

That's certainly true - but the only people that see things this way are fanboys. Most people simply don't care that much who's stealing from who - they just want things they like. Whoever does the best job providing that will do fine, whether they "stole" it or created it in their labs.

And he's telling you it makes no sense because he wasn't mad. All he was doing was pointing out that Android has the same problems with not supporting older hardware that Apple does.

One new gimmick at a time just like how the gameboy was sold in the 90's. First there was the original gameboy, then gameboy hardware color, gameboy pocket, gameboy lite, gameboy color, gameboy advance, and then gameboy advance sp

I do use folders but I have a strict 2 page limit so I try to keep my app count down. Many times i bypass downloading apps because I would have nowhere to put it. I dont want every single icon to be a folder either so I only have a 5 or so actual folders between the two pages.

No still gotta disagree. If one company makes a name as an innovator that offers something different, they can trade on it. Very few people blindly add up the actual value of an item when purchasing. Just look at how popular Beats headphones are.

No he was pretty mad at me quoting him. You are 0-2 today. He might not have been mad in the original post I quoted, but my reply wasn't implying anyone was.

These threads and the Mac threads always turn into competition threads. Instead of discussing iOS6 itself, it's now about who's copying who. Both OS's are great, both have pro's and con's. It's a matter or preference, of course there will be some copying going on from both sides. It's just the nature of competition and business. An example of that would be Google's project Majel aka Assistant which would be something similar to what Apple has with Siri.

As for iOS6, I have to say... moving from Google Maps to Tom Tom is a downgrade, but since Apple had no choice since it wanted to add more features to Maps.. I understand why they did it. Other than that, not really many other big changes I see. That Passbook looks like a handy feature built-in to the OS.

Do you think the average consumer looks at two phones and says "well, Android had notifications first, so I won't use the iPhone because they stole them" ? No one does that. They look at who has notifications, and who has them in a way that they like. No one cares who designed or developed it first.

No, he was upset at the tone of your reply, which started with "So what?" and implied that he was complaining about the topic - which he wasn't. Your second reply was dismissing the relevance of upgrades thinking that no one cares about them - which was silly because there were multiple people in the thread already that thought it was a relevant issue, which is how he got involved in the first place.

Sales numbers prove the general public does not care about the stuff angry fanboys rant about on the internet. Both iOS and Android do very well.

just as some people intended. Unfortunately they are allowed to do it here.

No, I think most people buy what they think is "cool or awesome" and what their friends have.

On this BBS if you have a problem with the tone of a reply by anyone because it starts with "so what" that's on you. profjay freaked out without reason, not sure why you are trying to spin it.
