not to pick nits, but you just defined Peter Parker, right? But for spider bite, Parker is never going to win a fight.
LOL, damn well she looks good in red though... Not too keen on her being a blonde much I don't remember if she had red or blonde in the Easy A movie...
Yes, and no. Peter Parker was a wuss, sure. What I mean is to say that I can't take Tobey Maguire seriously even as Spider-man. Have you ever seen StepBrothers? At the (*****in) Catalina Wine Mixer Will Ferrell's boss tells him he has one of those faces he wants to punch. It's like that; I just want to punch Tobey Maguire in the face.
The looks comment was about McGuire. The problem I have with the casting is that Parker wasn't Emo or brooding.
This is interesting to me, because after the first SpiderMan movie, general consensus was that Raimi and Maguire nailed it. I remember some being freaked out about the web shooters..but the critics loved it and it was hailed as being among the first super hero movies where they put effort into character development....Maguire was a huge part of that.
I don't know about nailed it. The movie was good, but it was just generally well done. The issue I really take with Maguire (and I've said it before); good Peter Parker, but a terrible Spider-man. He just doesn't do sarcasm well at all.
I was thinking the exact same thing. ALL I remember, is EVERYONE raving about the movie from all angles (1 and 2) The only complaints I ever heard was about Dunst. I truly think that Spider-Man 3 was just so bad compared to the first two that it's left a permanent sour taste in our mouths. I read someone else said the third one ruined the entire trilogy for him. I think everyone else relates.
I think part of that was because, up to that point, superhero movies were cheesy. It was first movie that even attempted to be a little serious. However, McGuire and Dunst were way too unattractive to play their respective characters. MJ is supposed to be borderline supermodel good looking. Peter was drawn up as a pretty good looking kid. He was just too poor and geeky for girls to like. However, he was good looking enough for a lot of pretty girls to find attractive.
and that i agree with...the 3rd one was awful...the emo crap they threw out there. but that's not on maguire. he didn't write the script. but the first 2 were absolutely met with huge applause in sales and from critics. pulling up rotten tomatoes, it was 89% for the first one and 93% for the second one. parker/spiderman has never been done better than it was in the 2nd one, I think.
eh..he looked like peter parker to me. spidey was the only character i ever really cared about as a kid who was a super hero. i thought maguire got it right. i thought raimi did a bang up job of bringing that character to the screen in the first 2 movies.
none at all...i'd also lose the ability to make my morey/tron jokes if i argue too much about fictional superheroes.

Umm who wouldn't think Peter's a superhero after that? He should have blown his cover doing that stunt.
