Agreed. I just keep coming back to Scola and Gasol the more I look at it. With Gasol it has to help both teams out tremendously. I cant think of a deal that makes more sense both parties unfortunately. If I was either GM I would seek that deal if its an option. If you want to look at Scola obviously there are other pieces you could get in return as well, but as a centerpiece, Gasol just seems to make the most sense.
We can thank coachbadlee for this & his silly idea of acquiring all 14 lottery picks. After we do that, we're going to win 5 championships in the next 5 years! Thunderz & Heatz better look out! Hashim Thabeet is coming back too! Woohooo! We're on our way!
I never said #5 + Evans. Thats crazy. I dont even think the Rockets can compete with a package centered around Gasol for #5 with the Lakers so obviously thats out of question. I was saying #5 + Salmons or Garcia. Evans does have good value to the right team. You might see a seperate deal involving Evans on draft night, but I doubt it. I think they still try to go with him into next season for one more shot.
Someone moving up on my draft board is PjIII. I think he could be really really good with the right teacher and motivation. Drummond IS the next olowokandi. Big Bust potential. I'm liking PJ3 after watching some film. I'd only move up for PJ3 right now. And there's some spec he might fall to us at #14.
I agree, the Kings wouldn't make any significant upgrades at any position, unless we offered Parsons, which would give them a much needed wing defender specialist with some good offensive skills. Lowry is for now an upgrade over Isaiah Thomas (can't believe I just said that - thinking about the Pistons), but Thomas is only a rookie and showed alot of potential and it's not blow you away upgrade, like Derrick Rose or Chris Paul. It's only a mild upgrade. Then you throw in #5 pick, and interests wanes alot more. You throw in Scola or Patterson. Does really make the team that much better? Scola is an obvious upgrade over Thompson, but he's a little older. Patterson is a toss-up at best.
There's major spec that he'll fall below our 16. Trading to #5 to get him doesn't really make much sense, although I could see him going 10-12.
I am taking a wait-and-see approach on him until I see him producing against NBA level players on the court. I keep hearing Han Solo when he said" Good against droids is one thing. Good against the living is another". On a related note: this idea of going after the No. 5 pick is intriguing because aren't the Maloof brothers really hurting financially and are looking to pare down that franchise?
I do, I know you care, you care what everyone thinks that is why you keep responding. See, watch, you will HAVE to respond to this post, there is no way you can resist. You are our tether ball, and we are knocking you around the pole. DD
This. Bro I got fired upon for making a comment about PatPat in another thread. I just think people on this board are frustrated as a whole with the team. We all love the Rox and everyone wants to win but no one has the answers. And despite what CF posters will admit, they aren't sure if management will get it done anytime soon. So any topic may set people off.
Thanks for the response. Evans obviously comes with a lot of red flags but I think that is the risk you have to take. At least he is moderately proven compared to a T-Will. His ability to impede Goran's development is a huge concern but I could see them switching him to a sixth man type role if that became an issue. A dominant sixth man is what I believe his floor is. (most)Early draft picks are always overvalued in my opinion but it's the game you have to play. Gonna have to pay the price and consolidate "assets" at one point even its overpaying. Honestly, if this trade is a huge flop and we lose the majority of our proven talent.. There are far worse things (like what we are currently doing) Taking on Salmons contract would be a HUGE pill to swallow. He's signed for at least another 3 years and is no more than a bench player. If they wanted us to take him on I would remove Patterson and the Mavs draft pick. I believe the Kings can absorb enough salary to make the trades work.
Yeah, Parsons would really help them, but I don't think the Rockets are willing to trade him as a thrown in in a Kyle for #5 type of deal. And they shouldn't, he really looked great and I have no idea how did he fall that low. I think they would consider Kyle for #5, if they believed that there's no way they're getting the guy they want and nothing else on the board helps them more than Lowry. Thomas was good, but he's not your future starter - he's only 5'9 and presents a major defensive deficiency.
Eh, again, just all feels exaggerated to me. Kyle Lowry said something controversial to the paper in May when the season was already over...so what. McHale had to yank him into the huddle...so what. Not saying these things are nothing, but players get disgruntled and don't always love their coach, especially on a ~.500 team when we the team has no clear direction and no true foundation of players in place. The point is that Kyle Lowry is easily a starting caliber PG (arguably/borderline all-star) and in a situation where he gets starters minutes, he's not going to be a problem -- and I think he would make the Kings a better team than anyone they draft at #5. There is not a player in the league at his talent level or higher that is going to be happy about a reduced role long-term. As far as leadership, I think he is a leader by example on the court. Maybe he shouldn't have been so candid in the interview, but I can't fault him for being honest.
We are going to win 2 championships in the next 5 years, aren't we? Hashim Thabeet is a good center and is going to hold down the five spot, isn't he? .... Please, tell us what other terrible ideas/thoughts you have. And when the Rockets don't acquire all 14 err 5 lottery picks, they are terrible and don't know what they're doing, right? lulz Spoiler
Yeah, that Thabeet idea was a bad one alright. Here are some other bad ideas of mine. Marshon Brooks Kenneth Faried Iman Shumpert Wait.......
Was it the first time you said something good or reasonable? Usually it's off-the-wall, non-realistic stuff. I am interested in hearing how the Rockets are going to win 2 championships in the next 5 years. Mind explaining? Have you contacted the Rockets FO about this plan? I'm sure they're all ears, looking for ways and/or suggestions to get off this treadmill. Plus, your ideas are way better than anything they have. Please explain once more, if you don't mind. If not, that's ok too.
