Can anyone recommend a good SEO company or two? They don't have to be local. Researching an SEO company can be difficult since they specialize in hiding their bad reviews and owning their brand name. Word of mouth means a lot in this arena.

If you've worked with an SEO company hands-on -- perfect, but if you've seen the company you're at do well in SEO (or a friend or family members' employer) that'll work too -- who did they use? I just want a reputable, honest, and effective team to work with.

    No pee-pee game companies.

Rep to anyone that can help. Thanks in advance.

I'm in this industry and I will recommend this guy. I know him and I know he does good, quality work. He stays on top of all the latest algorithm changes and knows his stuff. Tom Libelt is his name.

depends on your budget. It's better if you will hire a freelancer than a company! Cost is less

I was a linkbuilder in a SEO company last year but decided to go freelancing. I never did SEO after Google Panda and Penguin updates, I can still do On-Page though. Also, some SEO companies now follow the same strategy post Panda and Penguin updates which most likely kill your websites.

    I recommend going to WarriorForum.Com. Start a thread on http://www.warriorforum.com/wanted-members-looking-hire-you/ ..

I wouldn't count freelancers out but they'd have to have demonstrated results on a large scale. Budget isn't an issue.

Thanks for the forum rec, I'll check it out.

"Link building" is pretty much dead. Penguin killed it. Especially embedding your links in anchor tags with the keyword you are targeting. You can still link build in a way, but you have to diversify your anchors correctly to dodge penguin.

On page SEO still works and is easy to do.

I don't really recommend warriror forum. That's were all the rookies and hustlers hang out. The hustlers are taking money from the rookies and the rookies are all trying to learn what to do (for free). I'm a member of some expensive private SEO/Internet marketing communities and this is where the real players hang out which is where I met Tom, from my recommendation above. He's had lots of success post penguin and I've seen it first hand.

And one more important thing.... Please don't depend on Google organic search rankings for your business. That's a horrible business decision because your business can tank overnight with one algorithm change. Use other ways to get people to your business. Social media, paid advertising, adwords, bing ads, etc etc etc.

That's the world's best internet marketing forum. You'll find your company there. :)

I don't know why people don't do this themselves. It's so easy, a <s>caveman</s> monkey can do it.

I'm glad I quit link building before Panda. LOL

What's that private SEO/internet marketing community? It's great to konw that someone here is in the same field as I am.

You can find rookies and hustlers everywhere! Yeah, i think finding a company these days is extremely hard.

I'm familiar with the updates. I would consider hiring a content writing agency and handling SEO myself in the future but I simply don't have time for that right now. Instead it'll be me doing content (and not much of it) and an agency handling the SEO.

I don't rely solely on SEO ($200k+ in AdWords) but it is effective in this industry. Social media though, I don't put much stock in that. Thanks for the input.

I'll message you through the board, but I don't want to just put it out there in the open. Just think warrior forum, but with the big guns opening discussing what they do and HOW they do it.... which is worth the price of admission.

Because I don't have time for pee-pee games. Also, I wouldn't mind working with a team that had easy access to an SEO-educated Drupal resource.

You should look into it. With facebook ads, you can super target your customers. A little more expensive than adwords ads, but the targeting makes it worthwhile. Twitter? You can snipe customers by searching what people type and then have an auto responder send them a link to your service. Pinterest is becoming huge too.... You could be missing a key market by ignoring social media. Just fyi, and good luck.

Ziggy, what the hell is a pee-pee game? You use this term all the time, but from what I've seen, have never explained what it means.

A google search was no help.

Facebook ads don't convert in most industries. Not in my experience.

I'm a developer, designer, and system administrator of web-based course tools and web sites in my organization, so I know what I'm talking about. I also manage a Google Search Appliance.

Now you're recommending FaceBook and twitter ads? But then, you have some "private" thing to share? Why can't you just say what this company you're recommending is out here in the open? Afraid they might take your business?

    You sound mad, bro.

That's a very wordy description there Swoly, you might consider grouping those subsets into a more general job title -- VP of Pee-pee Games. ;)
