Whether one cares to admit it or not, part of the appeal in going after Howard is the presentation of an acceptable plan to Les A. that could lead to a full-blown positioning for a top draft pick. The general management has my vote of confidence that they are fully capable of finding compliments to an alpha. If there is a viable plan brought forth to obtain said alpha that doesn't include Howard drama, I'm sure a ground swell of community support would arise. Trading support assets for more expensive support assets makes no sense to me. I'm all in for trading assets for draft picks, but that is proving to be difficult on many fronts.
This is much different then it was with T-Mac. This is the first time Dwight has had any such injury and has missed more then a handful of games in a season. T-Mac had already missed considerable time in multiple seasons before we got him. Also, I wouldn't say T-Mac didn't put in the time to take advantage of his skills. At his peak he was a top 2 wing player in the leauge (along with Kobe). He could do it all in his prime and he did do it all. The injuries hindered his game. Not his lack of effort or work.
pretty much, if morey pulls it off, there's basically one of 2 scenarios, he gets a dwill or something and the team becomes real good, or dwight walks, and we've given up so many assets that we're bad, high lottery pick bad.
LOL. Please read the following so you have some idea what you are talking about: http://www.freakonomics.com/2012/06/05/michael-jordan-the-bobcats-and-running-the-lottery-treadmill/

If the rumors are true that Jameer Nelson is going to opt out of the last year of his contract and test free agency, maybe this makes a Lowry package more appealing to Orlando. Perhaps Orlando would have interest in also obtaining Pau Gasol to play center? Perhaps a three way trade like Scola, CBud, Dalembert and pick 14 (to draft a PG) to LA; Gasol, Lowry and pick 16 (to pick Fab Melo or Zeller?) to Orlando; and Howard and salary fodder (QRich, Clark and/or Harper) to Houston.
Where did you read that? Man, Nelson would be stupid to leave over $8 million on the table to pursue a new deal under this CBA. He'd be lucky if he could make half that much. Either he desperately wants out of the sinking ship that is the Orlando Magic or he's getting very bad advice from his agent.
This. Jameer may struggle to get a third of 8 million on then open market, his performance hasn't been great.
https://twitter.com/BQRMagic/status/211244993464111104 http://www.cbssports.com/nba/blog/e...eer-nelson-likely-to-opt-out-test-free-agency He supposedly has until June 15th to exercise the opt out, so we will know soon.
i've also read a couple times hes planning on opting out... cant remember the read or the source... i also would be shocked if he could fetch half of that... but maybe he just wants to abandon ship and try to join a contender? to some people that could be more important than the extra money...
your consistent reaches, aka built bench, for players in this draft should be tossed in the nearest garbage container...:grin: jk but really tho, i cant wait untill something happens... i yearn for offseason moves...
Good news for the Rockets and Morey.. @KBergCBS: Orlando is expected to conclude its GM search by late this week or possibly early-to-mid next week.
Totally agree on this. And frankly, I smell a rat here. There's no way Jameer opts out of $8 million unless someone is shoving him some sort of money under the table, whether it be an endorsement deal or some sort of board membership on some shell corporation, something is amiss with this picture if Jameer indeed opts out.
