You guys were right about Kg. NO CLASS! I guess it rubbed off on Rondo too. Rondo talked all that mess at halftime of game 5 and then he couldn't back it up. And pierce was so "cold blooded" that he shot less than 30% from the field this series. Outside of Doc and Ray Allen, the Celtics are garbage and have NO CLASS. http://www.cbssports.com/nba/blog/eye-on-basketball/19317797 Some bad blood goes away once the buzzer ends, the series is over, the game is through. Players are people, employees, and they can put that away. Some blood stays bad. Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo walked off the floor of Game 7 in Miami with 20 seconds left in the game with the Heat dribbling out the clock on a 101-88 victory to advance to the NBA Finals. They did not shake hands with the Heat players, as is custom. Meanwhile, Doc Rivers and Ray Allen stay behind to congratulate the Heat, as LeBron James can be heard saying "I really respect you, Doc" and answering "Yes, sir" to the Boston coach as they shared a man-hug. Rondo has clowned the Heat routinely, in half-time interviews and on the court, and with Garnett being, well, you know, no big shocker here. If you think that players shouldn't have to do such things after the game, you likely feel that this is no big deal and you wouldn't shake hands either. If you feel that sportsmanship has any value in sports, even professional sports, you understad that this is a huge insult and a pretty selfish maneuver under those predispositions. Nothing anyone says on either side will change your mind. But here it is, and the other thing that will not change is the score. The end of an era is here for one team, the biggest challenge awaits for the other.
Who cares?.. I agree with jvg if a player wants to shake hands fine. If they dont also fine. Dont Understand this whole buddy buddy hugging crap. You just played an intense series and wanted to win badly. Why this whole fake hugging crap. Shows they wanted to win. The good ol nba days didnt have all this man love hugging crap.
I guess it's a sportsmanship thing. Lebron go crucified for it when he did this while in Cleveland. Will Rondo and Kg get the same treatment from the media?
Was their last chance to win a championship together in a Celtics uniform, the disappointment was really high as they led for most time of the game and lost it in the 4th quarter. I don't see anything wrong with it.
Big deal. They're competitive. They're not thinking about congratulating guys at that moment. Plus, the Heat would be celebrating because they won the ECF. Some players just want to leave the court ASAP. More than likely, they spoke to each other in the tunnels/locker after getting dressed.
Would you have expected those two knuckleheads to take defeat in any other way? They're ego driven and overtly aggressive. Noble qualities on the court, but off the court they're no class.
Ideally they would always shake hands which is good sportsmanship. I remember a football game, the losing country would line up from the centre line down to the corridor where players leave the field and shake all the opponents' players hands. Now that was very suprising and took away all the negative energy the opponents' fans or they themselves could've spread.
Why is this a big deal? I wouldn't want to bro-hug or congratulate the Heat either... can't say I blame Rondo or KG. I think I kinda respect them more for walking out. It tells me they really wanted the win and were taking it seriously.
I don't think its a big deal, but it is a sportsmanship tradition. Lebron got crucified because he had this good guy perfect image at the time, was endorsed and everything he do will be more important than anything KG or Rondo does, that is just lebron and his curse for being so famous, it has its perks obviously and its price
Is this something they normally do or because it's a retaliatory gesture to Lebron who didn't shake their hands after he lost to them in the playoffs?
Wasn't a big deal when Bron did it not a big deal now. Kg and Pierce did it last year but nobody made a big deal. If Bron and Wade did this it would be all over the media.
Actually, I thought it was classless when Lebron did it and I think it's classless for KG and Rondo to do it. I can kind of understand if there were a lot of dirty plays etc. but game seemed fairly clean (officiating and otherwise). Even still, there should be some semblance of sportsmanship. Don't like KG, PP, Rondo, LBJ, or DWade (Bosh kinda won me over last year in the finals). This ECF really f***d with my head. Then the whole Derrick Fisher on my 2nd favorite team (and contributing) really screwed with me too. I will however be shocked if Miami doesn't win it all.
this just in, Lebron was quick enough to shake Rondo and Garnetts hand before they left the court, what an A**hole! does not deserve to go to the finals, haha.
