I would sign KG if there are TWO other moves involved. Parameters of the signing would be something like 2yr/$20mil or perhaps a 3rd year at slightly less annual salary. One move is obviously Pau Gasol, with trade parameters of Scola and Lowry(perhaps a little more or less) The other is an upgrade at a wing position, either over Lee or Parsons. I love both players, but getting KG and Pau means playing for today rather than the future. So an impact player here is a must. KMart of two seasons ago could've been that player, but not sure if his health/mentality works next year. If all of the above happens, I see the Rockets in the Lakers territory of this year. Clearly worse than OKC and SA but still capable of being a dark horse. It would be a two-year window because I think that's as long as Gasol/KG would last.
Hell he probably hates people on his own team. The way he disrespects his teammates by yanking them around... he's not human. And I mean that in a bad way.
If this year's playoffs have taught us anything, it's that we shouldn't even bother unless we have one of the top 5 players in the NBA. The level of talent at the top is so out of proportion with the rest of the league that if you're not a top 10 NBA team just counting your young core alone you might as well just blow it up. How on earth can the Rockets ever come close to matching the Thunder or Heat for the next four years? The answer is we can't. In lieu of that, we should follow the OKC model because the Miami model sure as hell ain't happening with us.
You act like you know him and have been in Celtic locker room. He plays his heart out for his team and has the respect of everyone he's ever played with. He's better than any big the Rockets have and would be a HUGE upgrade for the team.
OKC will probably be this good for 5-8 more years. So we just give up competing until Durant, Westbrook and Harden get old and die?
I've suggested KG, if we get Gasol, a few times. Wasn't sure how much more he had in the tank, but seems like he's still got mileage left. Best case scenario? Dragic/tyshawn Taylor (2nd rounder) Kevin Murphy (2nd rounder)/Budinger Parsons/Budinger Gasol/KG Howard/Camby KG won't even think of Houston unless we land MAJOR talent. I think he'll just be stubborn and stay a Celtic.
1. trade for dwight 2. amnesty scola to open up cap space 3. sign dwill 4. sign garnett dwight/camby garnett/dontas parsons/ ?? lee/dragic deron
This. And I thought Garnett hates McFail now anyways? I remember last year when McFail was rumored as a potential Doc replacement in case he retired that people were saying it wouldn’t happen because of KG? I don’t really think anyone wants to play for him besides Dragic...
Why would KG hate the guy who enabled him to join the Celtics and win a title? Chandler Parsons and Sam Dalembert, among others, seem to like McHale well enough on last year's team. McHale also has a good relationship with Kevin Love and Al Jefferson. Kevin Martin and Kyle Lowry were the two who had issues.
if we can land rivers, try to trade for rondo as well rondo martin/lee parsons garnett/motie gasol/camby
I just remember reading some chatter about how McHale wouldn't get that job because of the way his relationship had soured with KG. Probably still some resentment about how he wasted his prime years in Minnesota because of McHale's ineptitude as a GM. Not sure if their relationship is as rosy as you make it seem.
