    ok not really.
Why are we band waggoning a player that we have a clone of?
Marcus Morris is almost an exact clone of White.
    Similarities:
Ball in hand player, questionable defense, high upside with potential to bust.
    Difference:
White- assists more and turns it over more
Morris- better scorring and shooting capabilities
Both play the same position and have highly comparible games. My question why so much hype on CF?

Well I'm not complaining or saying anyone is wrong. I just wonder why when they are so similar.

I see very few similarities between White and Morris' games. In fact I can't really think of anyone with a similar game to White.

They seem to have similar strengths and weaknesses. How do they differ?

White is a lot bigger and stronger than Morris. If you were one of the dreamers who looked at Morris and projected him into a Paul Pierce, then you could use the same lenses to project White into a Lebron James. Not saying either comparison is right, but yes they are fundamentally different types of players.

1 is a ball handling forward, 1 is a forward that can handle the ball.
    How is that similar?

Stop looking at highlight plays. It can turn Bynum into a 3 point specialist and Tmac still dunking over everyone.

And yes, since this is the Hype Train thread, I just went and said it. Royce White is Lebron James. Period.

Royce is more of the point forward with actual good post, dribble, and passing moves (Andre Drummond for ex is a super athlete w/ out those abilities that Royce has). He has already has the abilities to do those moves. Anyway he can't shoot, turnover prone, needs the ball and hes a little absent minded on defense.

Marcus Morris CAN have those abilities but he hasnt developed yet. He's got a decent jumper though.

Royce White is a triple double threat, Morris is not.

Lamar Odom? I'm predicting almost an identical career path for them; coach gets enamored with White's dribbling/passing from the perimeter, tries to play him as a point-forward. Fails because the defense would love to give him jumpshots, and he's too turnover prone. Eventually finds a role as a semi-garbageman, focusing on rebounding and hustle off the bench, taking slow guys off the dribble and dominating faster ones. Will always be a little loopy on defense, and a ton of off-court baggage, as well as the nagging thought that he should be so much better than he is...

I still have the feel they are both ball in hand, poor defensive, tweeners.
Besides the offensive move, drive or shot they seem identical. I supose I am being hard-headed. I just can't really see eye-to-eye with people thinking he should be a Rocket (unless we get rid of Morris)

The difference between Marcus Morris and Royce White is like a pony being compared to a thoroughbred.

Most of all, Royce White is NBA ready, outside of the aviophobia. He may even start for the right team -- Atlanta, Boston (without Paul Pierce),

Watch some of his clips, highlights, and scouting reports. He passes like a guard and could literally run an NBA offense very easily in his rookie year, if drafted by a team that needs someone to make plays.

Better rebounder, better post player, deadly ballhandler who can run the court, and decent mid-range (not quite as good as Morris in that area, maybe).

I see alot of similarities in Royce and 2005 Boris Diaw. Royce probably won't be as good of a shooter, but will do everything else better.

Best Case: Lebron James meets Anthony Mason
Worst Case: Four way gang bang of Ron Artest, Terrence Williams, Lamar Odom and Boris Diaw.

    ROYCE WHITE!

    Best case: Magic Johnson
    Worst case: "Chief" Bromden

Look, basketball is supposed to be entertainment. If you can draft a guy @16 that is absolutely compelling entertainment that's the best you could hope for. I will watch to see what amazing things he can do every second he is on the floor, even if he can't shoot for s**t.
I mean, I watched Iowa State basketball this year...IOWA STATE.

I see where you are coming from but Odom didn't have White's strength or post up game. That's what makes him unique from other tall guys with superior passing skills. He just has a really unusual combination of skills. He has the ability to drive past bigs and he can overpower smaller players.

Chad Ford said White struggled in the drills athletically against Other PF prospects.
