I am not getting any work done. I have the match on one of my screens and some of these points are ridiculous. I think if Fed can cut down his errors he will win.
I think this is the final everyone wanted. To me, Rafa is still the player to beat on clay and Djokovic is the best player on tour. Not that any win at a major is a small feat, but winning this tournament would be huge for both players. For Djokovic, it would give him the career Grand Slam. For Nadal, it would show that he hasn't been completely passed by Djokovic.
If Djok can beat nadal on clay maybe it is time to consider Djok on the GOAT path? Nadal is GOAT on clay.
I think it would certainly put him on that path, but he would still have a lot of work to do to be the GOAT. Depending on the way you look at it, this is either the best time or the worst time to be a tennis fan. On the positive side, we may be watching the three greatest tennis players of all-time, and even though Fed seems to be slipping a bit, all three are either in their prime or reasonably close to their prime. On the negative side, there are just no real Cinderella stories in tennis right now. A young or unknown player cracking the fourth round or the quarters of a Grand Slam event is what passes as an underdog story at this point. That's how dominant those top three are. You also have to feel for Andy Murray. In any other era, you have to feel that he would have won at least a couple of majors. But in this era, he can't catch a break. When you look at it logically, it seems nearly impossible that Murray would be able to make as many GS semifinals as he has without bringing home the big hardware. Talent-wise, he might be one of the ten or fifteen best tennis players of all-time, but it's possible, maybe likely even, that he'll walk away from the game without having won a major tournament.
