Since you bumped this after a crappy brunch I'd suggest Freda's. Last time I was there they had a reasonably priced Sunday brunch that had prime rib and snow crab on it that didn't suck. Nice patio also.
Nice, I might try this out on Sunday. $21.95 for a buffet that has crab and prime rib? Almost sounds too good to be true. At Fonda San Miguel I paid $40 for a buffet and the only decent things on it were tamales and the desserts
been there it looks gross since its attached to like some old 7/11 or something. but the bread/bun is so good. i think they make it?
I'm pretty sure I said once in another thread that Torchy's wasn't all that, but I've since changed my mind; I freakin' love that place. Just don't go in expecting Tex-Mex....it's its own style/flavor.
Everyone loves to compare Torchy's and Taco Deli. I side with Torchy's, Taco D is decent though but to each their own. Torchy's Pork/Chile Verde taco and Shrimp taco are my favs. I have heard Taco Ds breakfast tacos are pretty amazing have yet to have them though. Tomo is some of the best sushi I have had, I would recommend this to anyone who comes into Austin and is looking for some sushi. I have yet try Uchi, most people I have talk just say its way overpriced. I still want to try it atleast once. I am also looking forward to trying the new NATY (North Austin Trailer Yard) off 183 that someone else brought up. I believe it just opened in the last month and has received some pretty nice reviews.
I went here yesterday for brunch. Nice spread on the buffet and $10 bottomless mimosas. Not really much of an ambiance so it's not a Sunday Funday type spot, but it's definitely worth checking out if you're hungry and just want to get your grub on with some good food without spending a ton. There was a guy at the table next to me that must have eaten 10 pounds of crab legs. Dude was a machine.
Yeah, that's about how it was when I was there... but my 10 year old son was the one eating 10lbs of crab legs.
