Corporate profits through the roof, CEO compensation packages more than a worker will make in a lifetime.

"fundamentals of the economy are strong "

That's not what he said, he said "the private sector is doing fine". Seems the president is right. Just another misleading thread title from basso

Sounds like the solution for the public sector is to get more of them in the private sector.

it was a stupid comment from Barack. He spoke without thinking. He's trying to hoodwink the American public.

It's the end of the world as we know it, and the economy feels fine.

dumb comment by Obama. But long term damage won't be that much. I think people will agree that the private sector is doing more than fine. They are doing great. Record profits for American Corporations that past few years.

It's not the private sector that is suffering. It's the American middle class. The reason the private sector isn't hiring is because we're a service economy and guess what, since people aren't spending they have no reason to hire people to service unmet needs.

Private sector isn't creating jobs fast enough to increase demand. And economy won't heal until public sector stablizes and stops killing gov't jobs. Of course, if Romney wins, what the Republicans will do is pass Obama's job bill and start increasing gov't to improve the economy, and then claim it was by shrinking gov't that they got things back on track!

Technically speaking, the private sector is doing fine -- debts have been reduced and balance sheets are looking good. The problem is that it is not spending like it needs to because of the ****-storm they went through from 2008 until now, and they have no trust in the economy after what happened and the crooked political system that we have in Washington. Thus, they're just going to sit on their money until they feel it is safe to spend or they have forgotten.

But be prepared for Obama to claim he will get us back to pre-recession economy in four more years (when it reality it will take much longer, especially given the world economy right now), citing small improvements that would have occurred with or without him.
