All we need is to draft another 6-8 PF to complement Scola, D-Mo, 2Pat and Morris. Instead of Thomas Robinson, if we were able to swing a trade for #2, IMO we should gamble as if the Mayans are correct and take Andre Drummond. We don't need another PF. We need a world-class center and everything else falls into place. Goran would be salivating at the chance to play with him so we keep Dragic. Lowry, #14 and #16 and probably Morris or Patterson will be gone. Unfortunately, I don't think Morey is capable of pulling off such a deal nor does he have the stones to take such a risk.
I agree that Drummond should be the guy, but don't think he'll be available at 5. Forget about Howard. Let the rebuilding kick in full gear with this draft. Pair Andre with D- Mo and we finally have both size/big time talent/upside on the interior. These guys will be under the tutelage of the best in the business(CD, Lurch, Dream, etc.) . Sure there is risk/ growing pains, but we play to our strengths and ensure the longterm culture and quality of this organization. The margin of error/downside risk involved with trying to reach the Mirage that is Les's "short term window" is unacceptable........perpetual mediocrity. It's time to make the move NOW.
And Robinson measured at 5% BF weighing 244 pounds. Impressive. He also had the second widest hands and was at the top in hand length. A lot of times, this is the difference between a player being ok or being good. He's an inch shorter than i expected, but he doesnt play down to that height. He's a legit NBA 4. His height isn't an issue because he's got the strength, reach, and athleticism to make up for the inch of height he's lacking.
If the Rockets prefer renting DH for a year when they have a chance to draft Drummond, they are beyond help. At that point, nothing less than new ownership is going to fix the problem.
Because you are effectively just throwing your random dude opinion out. I like D-Mo's potential. A lot. But Sully isn't chopped liver. He came into a great NCAA conference, dominated from day 1 till his last game, and apparently has better size than the other PF in the draft that people are salivating over - Thomas Robinson. Clearly, he doesn't have Robinson's athleticism, but why he's dropped so much is beyond me. I guess there's a reason, but there's also a reason why D-Mo dropped to #20 last year. I'm not advocating trading up into the top 5 or anything to draft Sullinger, but if he's available at #14, when guys like Meyers Leonard are apparently sneaking ahead of that, it would be a steal. Of course, all that said, Terrence Jones is another guy whose position isn't entirely clear. He's taller than both Robinson and Sullinger, with equivalent standing reach and hand size, and he produced solid and consistently on the national championship team that had all the guys it had.
I actually watched 4 of Sully's games this year. And he got up against an NBA caliber PF and center in the Kansas game and pretty much was ineffective (putting it nicely). Same problem Scola has. You say the 14th and I say the 16th. Is that really much difference?????
I watched more than 4 of his games this year. Does that make me more of an expert than you?? He had very few ineffective games, putting it nicely or not. In the same championship game Robinson was equally inept. Does that mean he has no future? I agree with you that he might struggle against bigger, better players. Newsflash? Everybody does. The Heat last night used Joel Anthony in the 4th quarter against KG because he's their best defender, and KG struggled. It happens. #14 and #16 are not much different, no. Not sure why you asked me to explain to you why we'd draft him in the first place? I was making a general comment wrt to his measurements being solid, especially as compared to the other top PFs in the class.
I just am trying to figure out why we would consider drafting any PF when it is a crowded roster position and D-Mo is coming over. And yes somewhere in the mid teens he becomes BPA.
I'm hoping for a trade up to #2 with Charlotte. I want Andre Drummond. He would be the perfect compliment to Doghnuts. Of course that is if we have to go through the draft to build, meaning we can't land a top 10 superstar via a trade. A starting lineup of c- Drummond pf - Donatas sf - Parsons sg -Lee pg- Dragic would give us a young, athletic team similar to what Oklahoma City had a couple of years ago. This group would not cost alot either allowing us to pursue young Qaulity FA's. I would try and upgrade SG and SF and have Lee and or Parsons coming off the bench.
If there are trades clearing out our current crop of PFs, it could happen. TRob and Dmo holding down the 4? This would mean we'd be cleaning house, though, so I don't know.
Its not likely. What I have learned is Morey is too chicken sh#t to make a move of that magnitude or unlucky/incompetent.
TRob and Dmo holding down the 4? I don't believe it is a good thing to have your 2 highest potential players manning the same position. thetatomatis Its not likely. What I have learned is Morey is too chicken sh#t to make a move of that magnitude or unlucky/incompetent. Well he did get Sterned. He has increased the number of assets to a point where the roster realistically has no more space for further assets. So I believe things are going to get very interesting this summer and the next. Also for the first time he has cap space. The importance of cap space cannot be overstated.
Damn, you would actually blame someone for being unlucky? That's pretty hardcore hatred. You should take a deep breath and let some of that hate flow out of your body.
When he earns it he will get it. Right now his unluckiness for years turns into his inability to get things done instead. Its no longer unlucky if you have that excuse for so many years. It means he just isnt good. Luck accompanies the prepared and really good at their job type people. So logic would have it if Daryl Morey is any good? The odds are he is due for a bit of luck soon. If he is not? Well he will keep sucking. Be "unlucky". I am banking on him having luck eventually through blind luck or sheer odds. If he cant get it right by now? Then he just sucks and or is extremely unlucky.
Don't want a 6'8 PF, we are good at the 4. If Morey drafts another 6'8/9 PF I would declare him as one of the worst Gm's in the NBA.A
