Seriously? I had the cowboy ribeye and it was unbelievably amazing. If the pork chop is better, I'm making reservations for tomorrow.

Agree - the cowboy ribeye at Perry's is outstanding. One of the best steaks I've ever had.

Went to Delmonico's in Vegas last month, and Perry's was almost as good.

just giving a shout out to my new favorite spot- hopdoddy's on south congress, right across from homeslice.

Great burgers and great beers on tap.

I recommend the llano poblano burger

Eating a Gadd Thai sandwich from Jalopy right now. Holy crap this is good. No idea how I missed this place, I live right down the street from it. The guys were super cool and asked me how I heard about them. I told them about Clutchfans and they said they were big Rockets fans. Thanks for the recommendation!

Marrakesh was it... good shwarmas iirc. there was also an alright persian spot near there - dariush,i believe. nothing great but not bad. no clue if either is still around although i'd be surprised if they were, at least dariush.

Bumping this back up again. I've moved north so I need some new spots to check out. Went to Fonda San Miguel for brunch last Sunday and it was a total fail. Weak buffet and way overpriced for what was on there. Made me never want to trust Yelp again.

Chuys Panderia off 183. Awesome Tortas and tacos!

Noble Pig by Anderson Mill and 620, they are about to be featured on this new show on the Travel Channel by Adam Ritchman of Man vs Food fame for having one of the best sandwiches in America. Everything that place has is freakin delicious. Duck Pastrami sandwich and Beef Tongue sandwich have been my favs so far.

I've heard a lot of good things about Noble Pig, will definitely have to check it out soon.

For lunch today I went to the new food truck lot at Anderson and Lamar. Had some tasty ramen, and there was a greek truck there I want to check out next time.

    Truth. On both counts.

If you like sushi, Tomo (also known as Tomodachi) on Parmer Ln. just west of Mopac is virtually unbeatable. Seriously. I'm a fan of Uchi/ko/HoUchi and this place is fantastic. The quirky names of their specialty rolls aside...they know what they're doing. Buy off the daily (chalk) board. Don't let the location/strip mall fool you.

There's a tiny taqueria tucked behind the Exxon on Burnet and 183 called Vazquez. There's another location further up 183 near the Alamo Lakecreek. Both locations are great. The tacos al pastor at the Burnet location are better, in my opinion. I like that they char the pork a bit more.

Tino's Greek Cafe (multiple locations around Austin) are actually pretty darn good. Portions are out of control. It's "cafeteria style" so it's fast...but I wouldn't consider it "fast food."

it's not up north, but I have to mention Wholly Cow Burgers. That place is awesome, and I feel like very few people know about it. It's in a convenience store on South Lamar. All organic/grass fed/etc if you care about that stuff (I don't)...regardless, tastes freaking good. (downside--their fries suck)

I mentioned it last Saturday in a thread :). Burgers are amazing! They sell organic fruits and veggies too. Their sweet potato fries are delicious.

Is Torchy's Tacos really all that? Noticed it's pretty close to the apartment I just leased and while it's decent at the Houston location, I keep hearing people saying it's way better in Austin. Obviously, I can go try it for myself but what do you guys think of it?

nice. I'll just have to disagree on the fries--had both types (reg/sweet pot) and thought they were soggy and not worth getting. (multiple times)

If you like Sichuan food, there's a place on 183 just south of Anderson Ln. (southbound) called A + A Sichuan. It's legit. Not "Chinese flavored American food." The "Stir Fried Lamb w.Chili" and the "Shredded Pork with Garlic Sprout" are my go-to main dishes. Their dumplings have a fluffiness not present in typical American "Chinese" restaurants.

    Vietnamese...
For typical Pho/Bun I generally go to Tan My. It's located behind Target on Peyton Gin (Ohlen/183).
For more traditional "dinner" items, try Sunflower (near the same Target, but out front). The Shaken Beef is wonderful. The crepe dishes are giant and delicious.

For Bahn Mi, Tam Deli on North Lamar owns. Pho Van in the same parking lot as Sunflower is also very good.

Strongly disagree. I think Taco Deli is the ****. Torchy's is pretty so-so in comparison, and I can't help by compare.

(I'm speaking strictly about lunch tacos....for breakfast, I don't think they're quite as far apart)

Not north but Lucy's Fried Chicken is the best I've ever had from a restraunt.

Depending on how far north you want to go a new place I just found, Belinni's Texas Grill has some killer fried calamari and the best CFS I've found in Austin. Its a Texas Tuscan mash up on Parmer just south of 1431.
