I'll tell you what his strategy should NOT be: to just ask Putin what he thinks

even CHINA thinks something needs to happen in Syria

For one, who cares what CHINA thinks? If they want something to happen......they should send troops. The PLA has 300 million service members and has had nothing to do for decades. Let them handle it.

It is very easy for armchair warriors to say: "give me liberty or death"? Let's have a civil war.

Like many of the countries around the world Syria has been ruled by a brutal dictator. Of course the US has supported in the past and continues to support some of them.

I am conflicted about Syria just like I was conflicted about Libya. The actual facts are often, as in Iraq that many times more innocent people were killed by US or foreign intervention, than were ever killed by original bad dictator.

China has been a dictatorship or very undemocratic for many years. Would it have been worthwhile to have fomented a civil war that might have killed millions and millions just to have sped up the move to democracy.

Does anyone actually think that the desire for regime change in Syria and Iran for instance is not driven by the neo-con/Israeli idea that this is somehow better for them? That their sudden obsession with the plight of the Iranians after years of enthusiastic support for dictators in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt?

No, and you are dishonest to post this. Note I am assuming that your reading comprehension and general fount of knowledge is say bright high school level.

No, simpleton, I am not saying it is Israel's fault that Assad murders people. Just that Israel, the US andother western countries have a double standard. If dictators are useful say Saudi supporting our foreign policy than we virtually never show concern about civil rights. the recent visitation of the dictator of Bahrain to London and DC where he was feted is an example.

As an aside I watched ABC Nightly News in the last day or two and the story was straight forward: It is important for Americans that we depose Assad because Syria is one of Iran's only allies and they are allies with Hezbollah and
Hamas. They know that the democracy angle is not going to be sufficient for most Americans to want another war, much less suffcient for the 1-2% of Americans who do all the fighting and dying for the frequent wars neo-cons crave.

Non-rhetorically, if Hitler never left Germany would we have deployed to help end the Holocaust?

Question, what would the Obama administration do if a large number of the US population took up arms and tried to overthrow the government through force and staged protests?

I'm not a fan of Assad, but judging on what the Arab spring has brought forward in North Africa, it is sometimes 'better the devil you know'.

The Muslim brotherhood is an evil entity looking to unite the Muslim ummah into a Soviet style caliphate. Their aim is to take israel, then to re-take Andalusia (Spain) and all of Europe.

They are passively hatching their take over plans in many countries already, via the Sharia 4 Belguim type groups in Europe. In the USA you guys have CAIR.

Watch out what you wish for. Most Muslims are awesome people, but the radical Islamic ideology that demands submission, subjugation or death is evil to the core.

Hmm... So some of the people who criticized Obama for taking action in Libya are now criticizing him for not taking action in Syria...

While I agree the muslim brotherhood is evil, I don't think you can look past the oppressive Stalin esque measures Assad uses to stay in power... in what he claims is a republic. The actual **** that goes on their is pathetic, talking to some of my Syrian women is just sad right now. They feel it deep, and I do too.

If the 74% majority of Sunni's have an issue with him, then he has to accept that instead of living under the pretense that him and the wealthy elite know what's best for the nation. 9,000 dead and counting, give it up.

As far as the US, they're a bunch of pansies when they can't scapegoat a completely helpless third party. They're the corporate executive who rapes and pillages the $5 crackwhore (Afghanistan, Iraq) for questioning "democratic ideals" out of erotic desire and not much else, but look the other way when the wife of a wealthy businessman with connections, security camera's in the house and an ability to communicate does the same thing - they silently masturbate from the corner and wait for someone else to make the move. It's this hypocrisy that defines bullies, but they normally get what's coming to them.

first the number of PLA is only about half of USA army. China has no abroad military base while USA got about 1000.

second, China got 30 million Muslin. They have had their own problem with that religion since long time ago, like 500 years ....
The recent one: On July 5th, 2009, 200 people were killed in a western depicted 'peaceful' protest. but it was only a minor abrupt.

China can do nothing other than respect Muslin.

Obama couldn't do anything because there are too many people with too many guns. I think it is one good things about the 2nd amendment.
