I'm hoping they don't nerf Inferno to the point where everyone has it on farm within a week. I'm enjoying the challenge. (Almost through Act 2 as WD)
Boo and such. Well, my authenticator should be here in a few days. Hopefully I'll be alright until then. BTW, you can exit the general chat by simply clicking on the gear icon and then selecting "leave channel."
I only play with friends. The thing with the "recently played with" list is that its where you can see who hacked you. Since the hacker needs to transfer stuff to another account. So the guy who got me was in my list and I checked his profile and he has tons of lvl 1s (presumably to store stuff). An insult to injury I see him every time he's on and I can't remove him. Reported him, but nothing yet.
I used this build for the end of act 4 hell and early inferno: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#aRYVQX!YTe!YcZYaZ I switched out multishot for spike trap with scatter rune in inferno since it is good for kiting inferno elites, but in hell multishot can take out whole screens worth of regular mobs quickly. I also have to change the specs up sometimes if I am doing progression fights against new bosses in inferno. Of course there is more than one way to do things, but using smoke screen and preparation gives you small windows of invulnerability, and caltrops can temporarily immoblize and then slow mobs that are trying to get to you. Gear wise, most inferno level demon hunters prefer a crossbow with quiver, preferably with high dex and a socket to put a green gem in for increased crit dmg. When buying a new weapon look for something with 100 or even better 200+ of your primary stat (dex for demon hunter). A 800 dps crossbow with 200 dex will actually do more damage than a 900 dps crossbow with no dex because the auction house doesn't calculate how the primary stats affect each character. Get some decent dex/vitality and specific to Izual, use smoke screen when he charges at you and caltrops to help kite him. I use the templar as my hireling with the demon hunter most of the time. His skills are Heal, Loyalty, Charge, and Inspire. Stat wise increased attack speed and dex on armor followed by vitality in hell difficulty, though in inferno you are often encouraged just to go full dex since it takes so much resist and vitality to avoid being one shot in act 2 and beyond. Look for 15 increased attack speed with 50+ dex rings on the AH and they will boost your dps quite a bit and shouldn't be too expensive. There is alot more discussion on demon hunter builds here.
Looked into the Authenticator last night. Maybe I am missing something, but it just looks like a ridiculous pain in the butt to me. Every paragraph ended with 'Then you must call Bliz support for them to take the appropriate action', such as your phone getting an update, or a reset, or desynchronization, or uninstalling the app, or losing your phone, etc etc etc. Seems to me, copy/paste from a doc and actually changing the password every so often is going to be the way to go for me. I am definitely not down with that 'extra layer of security/headache'..
I installed the mobile version, thanks in part to this thread (was earlier debating whether to spend $6 or so on the physical one, before realizing the mobile version existed). It's like any other app on my Iphone. Have had to use it once. It's my understanding, as long as I log in from the same IP, I only have to re-enter the code once a week or so. It's no problem whatsoever (so far), and was completely free. As for the game, I'm in Act 1 Inferno, and have gotten to the point where I can kill normal mobs easily, and only have to flee in abject terror from maybe 1/3 of the elite mobs. Progress.
Congrats Blizzard. Your rep is now in the gutter, and all because you planned to implement a money making scheme that any idiot could have predicted would attract the same sort of locust that you are clearly not prepared to deal with. Hell, they didn't even wait for you to put in the RMT before chewing away at your flesh, and they won't stop until nothing but bones are left.
Yeah it will prompt you every few days as long as you have the same IP. As for Nero, the only issue you will ever need to talk to Blizzard about is if you want to remove an authenticator from your account. All of the reasons you stated are reasons to remove an authenticator, if it is on your account and you can't access it you can't play. If you can't access it you also can't access your battle.net account to remove it. However if you have access to it and know you want to remove it(getting a new phone) then you can access your account before you get rid of your phone and remove it yourself. If there are app updates it will not need to be removed. I have had mine on my phone for several years, have gone through several updates and have never had to call blizzard for anything related to it. I did have to call them because I had a key fob before the mobile app was released and I lost it. It took me about 10 minutes on hold and 2 minutes to verify my identity and get it removed. Well worth not risking getting hacked.
Yeah I have never had to call Blizzard for any issues with my authenticator app, and I have had it for a few years now. That you have to call them if there is a problem is actually a good thing since it makes it much harder for some one else to access your account if they have to call blizzard when they have problems logging in.
You can log into your account and set your account to be authenticated everytime you play or every few times based on IP. Also, I've been using it since my WoW and iPhone days and had to install it on my Android phone. I just had to log into my account and remove the authentication option and then reapply it to my current phone. I didn't have to contact Blizzard or anything. The process took a couple of minutes. Trust me, it's worth it. Copying and pasting your password means your password is in memory/clipboard unencrypted until you reboot or copy some other text.
I'm not sure why people think it's too much trouble or too costly (before there was a free app) when the alternative is possibly getting hacked and losing hours and hours of playing. You break it down via hours or minimum wage for the hours you lose and you still come out way ahead.
Monk here getting butchered in Inferno... Don't know why I'm so weak. I took some screen shots of my stats and equipt below... please let me know if you have any suggestions. stats Spoiler equip Spoiler boots got cut, but they're 74dex, 77via, 99life per sec, melee attackers take 409 per hit
Off the top of my head, I can't remember, but I do switch them around on occasion. How much Dex and Vit should I have? I had life on hit, but I got some new equipt and took that away.
