Yea I wouldn't say Jason Castro failed. He was drafted in 2008 and made his major league debut in 2010. That's a quick rise and as a prospect he already accomplished something more than half don't do and that's make it to the majors, which he did in only 2 years. He's still young and coming off a missed year due to a torn ACL.

Jason Castro still looks like the catcher of the future, and that's saying a lot given that he was rushed through the minors and just got back from missing a whole freaking year. He was a solid pick.

So, where should we put the O/U at players signed? I say 27 of them sign.

particularly amazing because there was a popular sentiment that this was a bad year to have a top pick in the draft...that we ended up with a crop like this is just crazy. hoping it turns out that way.

Money changes minds sometimes. Stros drafted 3-4 strong college commitments with high round talent in the later rounds and the team has some leverage. You hope that one maybe 2 of them bite. Happens every year.

Lol that's been a common message in the crawfish boxes regarding him "so you're saying there's a chance!"

That is what I recall as well. I also remember that the Astros signed 2 or 3 undrafted players (college seniors?).

Keith Law wrote that Correa becomes the Astros top prospect.

TLDR: Some draftees are coming in with their decisions on whether to go pro or to stay in school.

Obviously, the big story of the day is that Carlos Correa has made his signing official. But, he's not the only player from the Houston Astros' 2012 draft class to turn pro.

Astros County has pretty much been on top of things ever since the draft has ended. These guys will be signing deals pretty soon.

Tanner Mathis will not be wearing a Tri-City ValleyCats uniform, or a Greeneville Astros uniform, or a GCL Astros uniform, for that matter.

    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>It's been an honor to be drafted by the Astros' but I'm coming back to lead the Rebels to OMAHA!! <a href="https://twitter.com/search/%2523RebsBSB">#RebsBSB</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/search/%2523OMAHA2013startsNow">#OMAHA2013startsNow</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/search/%2523OMAHA2013">#OMAHA2013</a></p>&mdash; Tanner Mathis (@tgmathis12) <a href="https://twitter.com/tgmathis12/status/210778591816990721" data-datetime="2012-06-07T17:01:47+00:00">June 7, 2012</a></blockquote>

As I already mentioned, Travis Ballew, the Texas State RHP taken in the 23rd round will be signing. Also, Terrell Joyce, the LF out of Florida State College (not to be confused with Florida State University) that was drafted in the 12th round wasn't too bothered with not being picked in the first 10 rounds after all. He's signing.

As for the quote in question: http://weblogs.dailypress.com/sport...g/2012/04/terrell_joyce_commits_to_virgi.html

And so, the players in bold are the ones that have signed, are seriously considering signing, or will be signing in the next few days. Italics mean that they are returning to school or heading to college. You can use this list to repaste it if it gets buried.

why do you have Traver in italics? I know he's committed to TCU, but what reason do you have to believe the Astros won't make an attempt to sign him?
