Correct, hackers will try to use the email\pw combo on others sites. People will need to change their PW on other site accounts if they use the same PW as their LinkedIn account. OP should mention that also. Makes me wonder how a site like LinkedIn failed to implement one of the most basic security procedures. Salting is like the first thing you learn when making a secure login script.
Actually you can change it to something that is virtually impossible to crack with a brute force attack. Make it much longer, add punctuation.
just saw last.fm and i think eharmony had breaches as well. last.fm site asks you to change your PW. just a heads up
Not changing my pw, I just started a LinkedIn 2 weeks ago and have 4 connections all friends. All my important stuff like email and stuff have different passwords. They can use my linkedin to log into my Facebook but I don't care about that. They can also log in to clutchfans and various forums. Lol, jokes on them really.
You're sarcasm meter's broken. That was a facetious response to a facetious Mr. Brightside post. I am definitely not THAT guy.
LOL....I haven't used a Mac since the Apple IIGS which is technically not a Mac. I do admit to not knowing the difference between your and you're in my earlier post. I blame the Galaxy Nexus for that.
I got a message today, mine was one of the hacked accounts. Luckily it's a password I don't use for anything else, I guess. Wish I'd seen all this two days ago when it happened.
