I wouldn't be overly surprised, but he could have gotten that if he were the 2nd or 3rd pick. To me, $5M is best case scenario, I consider 5.5-6M most likely, and $6.5 the worst case. Once again, pure speculation on my part.
2012: 10-3, 2.20 ERA, 16 games (15 starts), 4 CG (1 shutout), 110.1 IP, 100 H (2 HR) , 35 R (27 ER), 23 BB, 110 K, 1.11 WHIP
Tyler Heineman's 2012: .351/.412/.451, 7 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 26 RBI, 3 SB (2 CS), 20 BB, 14 K Also, 17 HBP
From Dripping Springs, TX just outside of Austin. I wonder how much savings they are expecting from him. Local who isn't even in BA's Top 500, at a small school, and really doesn't have anything available about him.
We've reached the point where draft picks would probably rather go in the 11th round or later where teams can offer up $100k without tapping the bonus pool.
Mayo: "Has 4 pitches, can throw them all for strikes" Bircher is a 6'4" 220 LHP from Omaha. Player Bio 2012: 7-3, 2.70 ERA, 15 starts, 4 CG, 110 IP, 93 H, 40 R (33 ER), 21 BB, 113 K, .225 average against, 1.03 WHIP
Still here? Well, Joe Bircher is the last pick for which the bonus pools will be in play. Unless someone goes for higher than $100K in the last 30 rounds.
Our 5th rounder, Andrew Aplin, homered off Bircher in the Cape Cod League a year ago, as well as gave up 2 doubles to our own Matt Duffy.
stolen from TCB So according to Mayo’s MLB prospect watch we ended up drafting the 5th Carlos Correa (Round 1) 13th Lance McCullers (Round 1S) 61st Nolan Fontana (Round 2) 79th Rio Ruiz (Round 4) 82nd Brady Rodgers (Round 3) 88th Preston Tucker (Round 7) best players in the draft. Not bad for Luhnows first draft, now he just needs to sign them.
