Most efficent scoring champs in NBA history: 1. Adrian Dantley 1983-1984 TS%: .652 2. Adrian Dantley 1980-1981 TS%: .622 3. Michael Jordan 1988-1989 TS%: .614 4. Kevin Durant 2011-2012 TS%: .610 5. Kevin Durant 2009-2010 TS%: .607 6. Michael Jordan 1989-90 TS%: .606 7. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 1970-1971 TS%: .606 Durant's True Shooting Percentage in this playoffs is even higher with .619%. Jordan best TS% in playoffs was .603%. Durant's Effective Field Goal Percentage(without free throws) is .550 in this playoffs. Jordan best eFG% is .537. Also: Jordan Era – Avg FG%: 47.44 Durant Era – Avg FG%: 45.68 Jordan Era – Average Team in League PPG: 105.01 Durant Era – Average Team in League PPG: 99.24 This is not surprising since the NBA has gotten a lot more talented from top to bottom in the last 15 years. The NBA has gotten an increase in athleticism, wingspan averages entering the draft, and defensive specialists. Bottom line, Durant is one of the best scorers in the history of the league right now. He led league in clutch points, hit 10 gamewinners in this season so far(Jordan hit 26 in his career), averaged most 4th quater points in NBA. So it's not just efficiency of scoring points, but also when he is scoring it.
Durant also has led a team to a FIBA World Championship.. ( something the USA hadnt done previously since 1994)
KD is scary good...just think about this for a sec...a guy with ridiculous handles for his size...and one of the fast releases in the game...and a dead eye shooter...Durant hasnt even gotten to his peak yet...
Is there a website that lists this? I'm curious if Durant is unusually high or if Jordan was just oddly low. OKC won 47 games this season (plus 10 in the playoffs) - did Durant really hit a game winning shot in 1 out of every 6 games?
One thing that stands out about Durant, not amongst these three guys - but because of his frame, is look at how durable he has been. I think he has played in over 98% of games his 5-year career. That's impressive as well!
KD is beyond great but let's not act like Lebron has played with players like Westbrook, Ibaka, and Harden. The Thunder are downright scary.
I dont think durant and lebron would be as efficient with old school nba defense. Kobe was always given the ball with less than 10 seconds so he took a lot of forced threes as the second option. Durant and lebron can easily drive to the basket because of the hand check rule. Kobe ftw
Jordan Era – Avg FG%: 47.44 Durant Era – Avg FG%: 45.68 Jordan Era – Average Team in League PPG: 105.01 Durant Era – Average Team in League PPG: 99.24
The jordan era had dominant big men with sky high fg percentages such as kemp, shaq, hakeem, deke, smitts, robinson, ewing, alanzo, daugherty, divac, and seikaly. You cant compare this nuetered nba to the nba of the 90s.
Pretty much. If lebron had a player as good as harden,he would still be in cleveland. Kobe had shaq. Fact of the matter, lebron had garbage and went to a finals.
Wasn't there a thread earlier this year where Durant was something like 3/23 the last few years (not counting this year) in "clutch" situations?
Kobe dropped 35/9/7 against Kings, 33/7/7 against Spurs in 2001 playoff, led two 4th quarter comebacks to sweep Spurs. I don't think KD or LBJ have played at that level in their 5th year.
Lebron averaged 39-8-8 against the magic and his team lost. His 08-09 run might have been the greatest statistical post season run in the history of the NBA. His stats are ridiculous, but his team lost.
That's not his 5th year, that's 6th. And he's in weak east that inflated his stats. He ran into Spurs in his 4th year and it was a pathetic 22/35% showing. Last year it was barely better.
He had 48 points and what 25 in the 4th/OT for the Cavs against Detroit? Or is that not considered impressive?
