We've seen the impact lesser name players like Tony Allen, Kawhi, Green, and Thabo create with their defense. Why wouldn't we want the Rockets to have the same. Don't want a wing who can guard LeBron and Kobe?

He He, I know Alonzo Gee isnt the splash we were hoping for. But Minor moves and additions are important too. Cause every team needs its scrubs and no names. No team can afford 10 starting caliber players and every team will have its fair share of injuries and cases of players butting with coaches or for what ever other reason - every team will need to play and rely on their scrubs once in a while for a stretch or two.

But the trick is you need to find scrubs who wont be a liability when their time comes. See its not just about getting superior coaches, starters and bench players. BUT its about getting superior scrubs too. Thats right yall. Im glad Morey on the ball there. :)

Alonzo Gee is an ultra-awesome scrub. Just think Courtney Fortson, Jeff Adrien, Greg Smith. Alonzo Gee is an all star compared to those guys.

Great athleticism, good size and motor... I'd take on my team most days. A low risk high reward move. Get him on the team.

I like Gee better than Young, Howard and Miles. Green may be a little better, though that's it's hard to judge Spurs role players.

I don't know if he's a guy I'd go after if I'm the Rockets, but he's not the scrub some of you guys make him out to be.

FYI Gee was playing on D-Mo's team earlier in the season. He was playing pretty well (arguably better than D-Mo at the time), but left the team because of "personal reasons" some time in early November.

Gee is only 24 he has room to grow and is already an exceptional defender. Potential contract of 4yr 17 mil is a great deal. Poor mans Shane battier?

This to me, smells like a situation where they are looking at guys to come in after a trade or two happens that depletes their roster depth. Gee is a nice player, but on the current roster im not sure how much PT he gets. If they have a trade or two on the docket, I dont see any harm in looking at some guys like Gee who they might be able to sign to reasonable deals after a trade wipes out their depth.

This is a loser of a Thread, a rumor I believe to be totally untrue as it makes zero sense on so many levels.

Alonzo Gee is not a mediocre player by any means, but there are certain things you have to look.

    1. Restricted FA, upcoming player, current team is far under the Salary Cap - Cleveland can match any offer, which may mean any potential suitor might have to overpay to get him.

    2. He's starter material - Which is good for most teams investing in him. Not saying it would be a bad move for the Rockets, but we have gluttony of guards. Say if Courtney Lee returns and we draft a player. We still have Parsons (and possibly Budinger). He might be an instant starter on other teams, most likely.

3.(related to #1) How much do you pay for such a player? How much can he improve? Can he be a consistent starter?

I followed Gee because of Fantasy basketball 2012, and he was statistically more viable than Courtney Lee. When they both were getting minutes, Gee was a better producer. with the additional height, Gee could even cost less than signing Lee. In that case, Gee > Lee. Lee is still a great backup, but was disappointing in a starter's role. Gee was not the 2nd coming or anything, but more serviceable that Lee IMO.

Since we will be releasing the cap hold on Lee, I think this is a good sign that there are impactful trades on the other side of the horizon.

Did the Rox get into a bidding war to gain their rights? A bidding war with a team that is cursed by geography and the ghost of a false king to overpay to get anyone they would actually want? A bidding war to absorb the available room/flexibility carefully constructed to make a 'big splash'? A bidding war that, by all apparency, is make-believe, a ploy by an agent hoping to stir up interest in his asset?

You're an armchair critic. Your ideas will always 'sound' better than theirs.
