I don't know about recent polls, but when the bill was unpopular when it was still being finalized, as much of the unpopularity was from the left wanting the public option and more regulation as there was from the right. Since those groups are almost certainly going to vote for their own candidate regardless, they don't really matter. Independents were split down the middle with 49% opposing.

The actual source is Kantar Media and their Campaign Media Analysis Group, which is non-partisan. Now, I was not taking an argumentative stance but merely making an observation that both campaigns will be acting less than honorably. To me, the value of the debate is thereby cheapened.
