I don't know about recent polls, but when the bill was unpopular when it was still being finalized, as much of the unpopularity was from the left wanting the public option and more regulation as there was from the right.

    For example, in this poll:

    http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57416095/cbs-news-nyt-poll-4-18-12/

You had 67% of Democrats supporting it and 81% of Republicans opposing it. Since those groups are almost certainly going to vote for their own candidate regardless, they don't really matter. Independents were split down the middle with 49% opposing.

If I "educate" myself via your source, I may graduate with an information shortage. ThinkProgress is an American political blog formerly edited by Faiz Shakir that "provide a forum that advances progressive ideas and policies".[1] It is an outlet of the Center for American Progress.

As Bill Cosby used to say, "Riiighttttttttttt!"

You didn't educate yourself - you looked at a link and dismissed data based on the fact that you didn't like the source or want to agree with it. If you had actually educated yourself by looking at where the numbers came from - which was posted in the link - you'd find that they weren't from ThinkProgress. The actual source is Kantar Media and their Campaign Media Analysis Group, which is non-partisan. If you'd like to see the actual data broken down by group, amount, and negative vs positive, you can find it on the Washington Post website:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/special/politics/track-presidential-campaign-ads-2012/

You have a tendency to equate a lot of crap that isn't equatable, and automatically dismiss when people actually post facts that prove you wrong. It makes your "I'm objective!" nonsense look pretty ridiculous.

Thumbs, my friend, when someone resorts to "Both sides do it!" to make a political argument, that person is telling me that they have lost that argument.

Once again we see facts have a liberal bias.

    This delusional hilarity bears repeating:

That any of you take this guy seriously is crazy. You're debating with the clutchfans version of Allen West.

Now do us all a favor and update your ignore list so that this thread does not become more useless than it already is.

Apologies for taking so long to reply. I'm still in the midst of a project that is consuming great chunks of my time.

Now, I was not taking an argumentative stance but merely making an observation that both campaigns will be acting less than honorably. To me, the value of the debate is thereby cheapened. Granted, I stoop to throw some mud at opponents, as do the vast majority of posters here. I am not saying it's right, I'm saying that it just is.

I would like to see if Kerry ran a more negative campaign than Bush. It would seem to me that a challenger would have to go more negative to unseat an incumbant.

    More disconnect from Romney.

    today via TP

Of course, teachers and firemen and policemen are hired at the local level and also by states. The federal government doesn’t pay for teachers, firefighters or policemen. So obviously that’s completely absurd.

    --ROMNEY

But Romney’s comment demonstrates a disturbing lack of understanding of both federal funding and his own published plans

Here are just some of the ways the federal government funds:

    Teachers

Improving Teacher Quality State Grants: about $2.5 billion given in 2012 to increasing the number of highly qualified teachers and administrators in schools

Transition to Teaching: about $26 million in 2012 to recruit and retain highly qualified midcareer professionals for high-need schools

TEACH Grants: an estimated $118 million in 2012 to fund college students who agree to become highly-qualified teachers in schools serving students from low-income families for at least four years

Stafford Loan Forgiveness for Teachers: an estimated $130 million in 2012 to forgive federal student loan debt for those who agree to become highly-qualified teachers in schools serving students from low-income families for at least four years

    Firefighters

Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program: grants for fire departments to enhance their abilities with respect to fire and fire-related hazards

Reimbursement for Firefighting on Federal Property: payments to local fire departments to reimburse their costs for fighting fires on federal property

    Police

Community Policing Development: funds to advance the practice of community policing in law enforcement agencies through training and technical assistance

COPS Hiring Program: funds to hire an estimated 500-plus police officers in 2012, by paying up to 75 percent of the new recruits’ salaries for three years

Coordinated Tribal Assistance Solicitation: funds to hire and train police officers for federally recognized Tribal jurisdictions

This is the lamest Shiny Object yet.

5 months till the election, they need to come up with better distractions.

At least pick something on a top 20 list of voter concerns.

Obama keeps trying to bait Romney with issues no one cares about, and everyone just ignores him.

I know a lot of teachers that disagree with your assessment.

So Commodore, what do Americans care about?

Somebody needs to explain the difference between a POTUS and a CEO to Mr Rmoney.

In an interview with conservative radio host Neal Boortz, GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney floated an unusual profit-making opportunity for himself if he becomes president — paying himself a higher salary if he performs well in the White House.

“I do believe in linking my incentives and my commitment to the accomplishment of specific goals"

    Incentive pay for President Romney?
