The thickness of the mud and the distortions on both sides of the race will be nothing short of epic. We have already seen it from the Obama camp and we may now be seeing it from the Romney camp. As in horse racing, on a rainy day the best mudder wins. This race won't be pretty but it will be petty.

STUDY: In Presidential Campaign, Romney And Allies Running Far More Negative Ads Than Obama

More than 63,000 general election ads were aired nationwide between April 10 and May 24, with just over half of them positive. But if you break down those numbers by party affiliation, the numbers tell another story. Democratic presidential advertisers, led by the Obama campaign itself, aired more than 25,000 positive ads compared to just 10,844 negative ones, good for a 70% positive ad rate. Meanwhile, Republican advertisers — the largest of which have been outside groups like Karl Rove’s Crossroads GPS — have released just 7,584 positive ads compared to more than 20,000 negative ones. A 27% positive rate

Does anyone know what the historical rates for negativity are? I assume the challenger is basically always more negative in a campaign than the incumbent. I wonder how much more.

might be different this year, since Obama has literally nothing positive to run on.

See, I read it, but in my head I hear:

"This year the incumbent will win in a landslide running on his record."

Jobs are being created, not lost
Your taxes are lower under Obama than under Bush
    Wall Street is soaring
Americans are covered with a new Healthcare law

Have you been asleep the past month?

The stock market is plummeting, and the jobs report on Friday was atrocious.

    not in the least.

SEALs killed Obama, yet barry shamelessly tried to steal political credit

    The stock market is plummeting

jobs report on Friday was truly a national embarrassment and humiliating for Obama

Healthcare law is unpopular and could get struck down by the SCOTUS

    all your points were crap
