I don't think JVG is pals with Riley nowadays-- not after the 90s rivalry and especially not after the way Riley did in his brother Stan.
I wouldn't be so sure. They have 3 guys and no one else. Miller has not done ish, Battier has not done ish, their best role player is a 2nd round junior. Would you trade Lebron for Howard? What's a better team, Wade, Bosh, Howard? or Wade, Lebron, Bosh? They have no balance, Wade and Lebron don't play well together most of the time. They have no inside presence and they lose focus too easily. I would trade Wade or Lebron as I don't think they work best with each other and it's not worth the money to have your two best players unable to play effectively with one another. The Magic couldn't possibly turn down Lebron for Howard.
They should, but they won't. I can see Bosh being the scapegoat on the way out if they want to do any trade. Most likely they'll blame it on Bosh's injury and give the 3 another chance.
Unless they completely flame out the next two games, I can't see them making a change (and maybe not even then). I think they could certainly find coaching talent that could run better sets, but the egos on that team are staggering. I watched the whole Kobe-Shaq-Phil saga play out, but the Miami drama has bigger egos and coddling. Even if the fired Spoelstra, who would they get? Riley won't go another round at this point. SVG is obviously out and wouldn't work well with the egos there anyways. JVG wouldn't go there after Riley stabbed his brother in the back, and there is weird animosity between Riley and JVG going back to their days in NY and those epic Knicks-Heat battles in the 90's. Although I do think he could coach those players. Phil won't go there. Jerry Sloan is too old school and accomodating. He got bounced by Deron, and the Diva Trio in the media ground zero would be a hundred times worse than coaching a low key star in the cricket fields on the NBA. Larry Brown is a w**** and would be a terrible fit. Adleman would actually be a great hire. Players love him, and the offense that guy could create with those players would be a thing of beauty. Thankfully he's under contract with Minnesota, who is not going to release him anytime soon. He, along with Love and Rubio, make up the Wolves Big Three. At best, they could make a lateral move for another young coach if they absolutely had to make a coaching change. Everyone saw the Wade-Spoelstra blow up, but is that systemic? Can they work together? Unless they've hit a fatal block where the inmates will not listen to the warden, the Heat will return intact next season with LeBron and Spoelstra. Maybe without Wade or Bosh, but the coach and star player will be back.
I'm sure of it. I'm confident. All will be back. People are overreacting again. We did this last series against Indiana. Pacers were up 2-1, it was the end of the world, Spoelstra was gone, the big three was broken up, the end was near. IF....big IF....IF someone goes, it will be Bosh. The rest stay.
Something like that wouldnt even be done because of the pure insanity of the media. But as much they come close in the playoffs, the lack of an inside presence will get them. That is unless lbj goes nuts like last series.
