You talk about ATW more than anyone -- he's in your head twisting screws and turning knobs. You never want a German in your head especially when: EUROPE IS FALLING APART CLOSE TO BRINGING THE WHOLE WORLD DOWN!

Well, to be fair, German beer in the head works fine.

So in theory a German should not be so bad.

You have to excuse ATW, he's always been a bigtexxx/trader_jorger jockrider. he's their biggest chearleader, it clouds his vision.

I just googled "chearleader" to see how many people would actually use such an incorrect spelling, and I came across this funny picture.

I control your thoughts and dominate your emotions.

Same goes for Northside Intern, Mathloon, New Yorker and all the other junior apprentices here.

Basically, the US position is that Europe needs to hurry up and fix their problems, but the IMF is not going to throw funds at Europe because Europe has the capabilities to fix its own problems - they just aren't willing to do it. I think the general idea is that the IMF will help, but is not going to take the lead to put pressure on Europe to start addressing things.

It is obvious that many countries in Europe have economic problems. Nobody ever doubted that. I get applications from young Spanish people who are more than willing to relocate to Germany.

Stating this obvious fact and discussing it is one thing - a junior wannabe intern creating a sensationalist thread title about "Europe falling apart" and "being close to bringing the whole world down" and then frantically googling articles and re-posting them to continue stating the obvious (that many countries in Europe have economic problems) is another.

These aren't run-of-the-mill economic problems. These are problems that are unprecedented in European history. This thread is no different than if it had been posted about the US in early 2008. The US *was* falling apart and *was* close to bringing the whole world down, even though virtually no one saw it. This time, we know much better and can see the problems coming. It was only through unprecedented action that the US collapse was stopped, and at one point, the US financial system was literally within about 24-48 of total failure. Europe is in the same general situation and will likely require similarly unprecedented bailouts and interventions. Dismissing it as simple economic problems is nonsense.

There's nothing wrong with the thread title. You simply dismissing it with a total inability to counter anything said and then just calling people names and pretending you're smart does nothing to change that.

The thread title is still ridiculous. You also still haven't told us what would qualify you to make sweeping statements and act like you are a world class economist.

Why would I "counter anything said" when what is said is basically a re-post of articles describing the situation? The situation is as it is. Bailouts and interventions are already going on and have been going on for a while so for you to say that it will "likely require bailouts and interventions" just goes to show that you have no idea what you are actually talking about.

Calling it economic problems does not mean dismissing it but is a calmer way than the hysterical tone you and the intern resort to.

The funny thing about using sensationalist words and overall being hysterical about the situation is that this always carries a nerdy undertone of "I figured it out first, look, look" when all you two do is basically to re-post articles and re-hash opinions which have already been widely shared and discussed in the relevant media. Plus, you get to say "I told you so" when economic problems worsen, which they will, and which a blind man could see a year ago already.

I live here in Europe, so trust me, I am constantly exposed to discussion of financial matters in Europe. Not only that, I am actually one of those paying for bailouts.

Again, please share with us what qualifies you as an expert on financial markets and economic questions in general. I am happy to share with you that I hold an MBA from one of the leading business schools worldwide.

What makes you an expert? Again, googling articles and re-posting relatively undisputed opinion pieces from business media does not count.

Oh, and please tell us - has the whole world been brought down yet?

P.S.: I consider Major a significantly more intelligent and educated poster than Northside Intern. It's just that he sometimes desperately wants to prove it and in the process embarrasses himself a bit.

But at least we can see he is a proponent of austerity in personal matters, saving the expense of contributing to this site, not having contributed anything to the tip jar in 13 years of membership here.

Austerity! Major is in favor of it!

Interesting. I had wondered how hard the US was holding back any sort of resolution. I had a theory that involved Saudi oil production increases, IMF inaction in Europe on the US's part, and a "multi-nation" Iranian oil embargo to squeeze the Iranians.

And do highly anticipated market events like this ever happen?

Amusing stuff for someone who's primary shtick on this forum is googling and re-posting articles about Islam, posting them with absurd titles and then makeing lots of sweeping generalizations about a subject you have no expertise in.

I don't care about your expertise or if you disagree with any of the viewpoints posted. But your mocking other posters and posting idiotic comments does nothing to further the discussion, and it certainly is no evidence of your faux intellectual superiority.

If you want to participate in the discussion and provide an opposing viewpoint based on actual logic and facts, great - this thread could use that. But otherwise, you're just nothing better than a troll throwing a tantrum because you have some weird problem with the original poster.

And yes, I would argue that Spain requesting a bailout this weekend is unprecedented for them and an example of Europe falling apart. What started with the smaller / weaker countries has now spread to major European economies where its questionable if Europe even has the long-term ability to bail them out. Interventions in Ireland and Greece are a very different scale than that of Spain and potentially Italy. Dominoes continue to fall there, and it's unclear if Europe has the political will and economic ability to actually stop the contagion.

No insight added other than some whiny b****ing and - again - re-hashing of widely known facts.

So - what qualifies you to talk about the subject?
