When i said he is going to be our new Scola, i meant defensively as well. Having Camby or someone like him(a defensive big man)would help a lot.

Hopefully at 21, DMo has more of an opportunity to develop defensively than Scola at 27 when the Rockets traded for him.

Just to be ease my worries, there is no way this turns into the 2nd coming of David Andersen is there?

It is nice to view the same game through a different set of eyes. Not that I can disagree with anything you said.

Yes he is looking much better on defense. He actually repositioned his team mates on a number of occasions when they did not have proper spacing on defense.

Three months ago he at times looked like a duck out of the water out there. I did not see any of that on either side of the ball today. He was always engaged, and understood the game better than his team mates.

Anyway HMMM enjoyed it immensely. Shall we do it again soon?

There are a couple (at least) of videos out there of Dirk at the same age. I watched 2 of them and my jaw just dropped. Well worth picking up if you have the chance.

Motiejunas is way bigger and quicker than Scola. He is young and he has a superior set of tools to work with. If he continues to develop he is going to be a handful in the NBA on the defensive side of things. Plus he is still growing. 7' and 240+. He may one day be a beast. But again please temper your expectations - it is difficult to project NBA success based on Euro play. But in my mind he needs to get over into the Rockets organization as quick as possible.

David Andersen... He showed flashes, but, sheesh, he almost always shot the ball from just 1-3" beyond his range.

Thank you for the stats line. At this point I believe he can score and rebound in the NBA. Sorry for my narrow point of view in today's posts, but I am currently much more interested in his court awareness and defensive prowess. And his effort and his engagement.

Effort and engagement. How important are those? If Javalle had them how big of a monster could he be?

Quick question: Does anyone else think that Motiejunas look a bit bored out there vs. Polish league competition?

Can someone give me the low down on this guy?

Maybe its just me but I'm not seeing the hype. Good for a 2nd round prospect maybe, but he would be drafted behind 4 or 5 big men in this draft.

Of course I would like to really see him against NBA competition for 4 or 5 years then pass judgement, but what does everyone see that's got their hopes up? His size?

I think it is the thought him stretching the defense out. He has a nice shot and is a good rebounder. His rebounding is what i think will translate well to the NBA.

He's averaging 12 and 8 in 32mpg in the Euro League.

Take out his one game of 21 boards and his avg drops to 6.4.

I just started to follow Houston two weeks ago so I guess what I'm asking is, is he really worth a 68 page thread?

Oh and he's shooting 45% from the FT line? I'm just kind of confused.

I don't think anyone in the Euroleague averages over 9 a game. He was 2nd for awhile behind Kirilenko. They play less minutes and (somewhat a joke) guys don't miss in Europe, so there are less rebounds.

Anyhow, Morey and scouts have a formula for translating numbers to the NBA equivalent. His rebounding numbers are good.
