Sure - that's true from the individual team's perspective. And those terrible teams should absolutely want to get rid of the lottery. I'm sure the Bobcats wished there was no lottery this year. But if there wasn't, there likely would have been more teams that tried to be as bad as the Bobcats.

And for the NBA as a whole, having a whole bunch of teams trying to be as terrible as possible is bad for business. You lose fans, you have less interesting games, etc. There's no incentive at all for the NBA to create a situation that rewards tanking.

I did not know the hornets could not make any trades and that the league still owned them. Maybe the sale was cod (cash on delivery) :) and benson was waiting for Davis to be delivered to him before forkin over 327 milllion dollars.

Ideally, every team would be trying to make the playoffs, and the teams that ended up getting the first pick would be trying all 82 games.

Does the NBA share revenue? If they significantly weighted the shared revenue to playoff teams, front offices might be more likely to build competitive teams.

Make their a fine for the owner and a smaller salary cap for teams like Golden State, who make the playoffs once in a blue moon.

Would you blow the whistle and risk losing your career if you smelled something fishy? Remember even if they reported how rigged it was to their teams why would the owners step up and say something when it hurts their own pockets? The rest don't want to bite the hand that feeds them.

The lottery process is too complicated, and why would they make that public? If it was simple with nothing to hide then they probably would not hide it.

The Russian billionaire heard the number one pick was for sale, and it was out of his price range.

    Sorry for the double post.

If the owner of Charlotte thought it was rigged, getting Anthony Davis would in no way hurt his pocket. I do you honestly believe Michael Jordan would be scared of the NBA league office if he thought it was rigged. He'd speak out even without his owners OK.

So, you tell me...why would Michael Jordan remain silent? How come he hasn't spoken up about it being rigged, when he has the absolute most to gain by this going to an arbitrator.

Why do people keep saying this? It is not more complicated than a state lottery. Explain to me how it is more complicated. If you can't, then don't say it.

The lottery process is not complicated. You have a list of combos that your team wins with. 4 balls are drawn. If the combo is one of yours, you win. It can't be much simpler.

On February 1, 1984, Stern became the Commissioner of the NBA, succeeding Larry O'Brien. He wasted no time and rigged the first lottery in 1985 and has been rigging lotteries since.

For those asking why do I continue to watch...It's like the day you found out the WWF was fake. Did that make you stop watching? It was still entertaining, but part of you died that day. People still watch it even though it's fake, but the more obvious it becomes the more we tune out.

Most guys who don't own tractors stop watching the WWF after they turn 16. Although, studies show men who continue watching are closet homosexuals with many S&M homoerotic fantasies. We're all family here, so is there something you'd like to share?

As for the topic, of course the NBA is rigged. But no more than any other billion dollar corporation. A little push here, a little nudge there, and life goes on. I was through with the NBA when they didn't give Kobe his 6th championship out of respect for everything he's done.

So you're saying it should go back to being easier like the 1984 "lottery."

And you still haven't answered my question. Why do you think this lottery ball system is more complicated than the state lottery?

Ah yes Ronny coming in here with the assumptions. I stopped watching it when I was 13 and my employee compntinued watching it until he was 25. He is a good guy who
is happily married if you must know about his status.

You are terrible with the assumptions.

It's complicated because stern is involved in the process. Get him out of it and it will be fine. I don't want him touching the balls before minutes before anyone has seen them. It is way too easy to smuggle ping pong balls. Secret secrets are no fun. secret secrets hurt someone. Just televise it for the giggles.

I believe only 4 times out of 18 has the team with the highest percent chance won the lottery. The last being the Magic when they got Dwight Howard.

A lot of scenerios could have made the draft looked rigged..

Bobcats - MJ is rewarded, of course they win the lottery.

Nets - NBA trying to help them keep Deron and land Dwight, and help out the Nets start fresh in their new city

Hornets - Trying to finalize the sale by throwing in #1 pick

    Dumbest post of the year.

I don't watch WWF AT ALL, I find it corny and ridiculous, but to say studies show people who watch it are likely gay and have gay fantasies? What an ignorant and stupid thing of you to say.

Of course the NBA has some questionable moves here and there, but to say it's flat out rigged is rediculous. LeBron would have won multiple championships by now. He would have lifted the NBA to another level of popularity.

And you lost respect because Kobe didn't get his 6 ring from the NBA? What the **** are you talking about..

^^ don't mind Ronny, he lost his mind when he turned 16 and lost interest in tractors.

see...that's totally crazy. Top team has 250 of 1000 combos. You'd think they'd win at least 4.5 times out of 18.

I think I found an easy way to test the ping pong balls for imperfections (cheating) before using them

Blindfold the girl...release the ball...No belly button,,,no good...throw it out. I'd definitely watch this on TV.

The clothing is how they can rig it. They need to remove "everything" to make the test credible.

So the premise behind the original idea was that IF either the third or fifth worst team in the league got the number one pick THEN the lottery would be rigged.

So just on pure randomness, the accusation is that there is a 1 in 4 chance that it would be rigged (16+9% chances of either team jagging the number one pick respectively) --> which incidentally is the same % chance of the worst team in the comp actually getting the number 1 pick...

Hey, I think the whole thing stinks as much as the next person, but for the third worst team in the league to get the number one pick - well, I'd hardly make any accusations of 'rigging it'...

Incidentally, loving the fact the Bobcats didn't get the number one pick AND hoping they take Drummond at 2 (because I think he'll stink!)

I think some of you guys just like a little gossip or conspiracy in your life.

Yes the Rondo foul should have been called and maybe the Celtics should have won....OR Maybe the celtics should just foul Wade harder instead of giving him the And 1 FOUR TIMES

YES the lottery pisses people off.....but you guys will still watch it and will still buy tickets. If the Rockets had won and people were saying,"This is compensation for stopping the trade." NONE OF YOU GUYS WOULD CARE! NONE OF YOU!

You are still going to watch the NBA. Stop being divas and eat a Snickers bar.

On a side note, people saying the Hornets getting it is statistically a low possibility, THEY HAD THE FOURTH BEST ODDS! Charlotte had a 25% chance compared to the Hornets 13% chance.

I do think the actual lottery should be televised, but people will still make up theories like some posters here about how the balls are weighted. You sir are dumb, because the same combination of balls would be pulled every single time. People would notice.

Homeboy, why the anger? Would I have 6 rep bars and a massive underground following if the nation wasn't behind me? You know how many girls I say no to on a daily basis? Not sure why you took my quoting of detailed, unbiased, independently funded studies so personally.

Also, you misquoted me. There's a difference between "gay" and "homoerotic". Gay involves more penis fixation and penetration. That's the idea of taking an erect phallus, and inserting it into your mouth as a source of pleasure. Or your anus as a means to closely mimic the male-female reproductive scenario.

Homoerotic involves more fantasy, imagination, and foreplay imagery. That's like the thought of chopping vegetables on Triple H's abs, or doing shots off of Stone Cold's pecs, or swiping your credit card through X-Pac's buns. That doesn't make you homosexual persee, as it's more about erotic thoughts than actual penetration. So according to one of many studies on this subject, 72% (or was it 73?) of males in the 18-34 demographic were aroused to male figures in the WWE. The rest were aroused to the female Diva's. It's an industry where sex sells, and they don't really care what kind of sex it is as long as people are still paying money to watch it.

And I just quoted the study. Is that a crime?

The storylines and characters are nothing revolutionary... but the sight of seeing two grown men (or more, royal rumble = orgy) drenched in baby oil caressing each other in various sexual positions is what keeps the majority of the fan base coming back for more. Exacerbating the issue are the patented moves like the Chokeslam that they wish to reenact in the bedroom with other males. This is what IBTL pays $69.99 every year to see at Wrestlemania - no one really cares about the rest. That's not ignorance speaking, it's just the **** you don't want to hear but have to accept as a fan (you sound like you're in the other 28%).

    It is what it is.
