The Jets will be in Super Bowl LI so that we can be inundated with "Jets LI" headlines.

I can guarantee once all the rail work is complete a Super Bowl is SURE to follow.

It sounds like Chicago will be competing for a later Super Bowl, since Goodell says he first wants to see how the 2014 game goes in NY/NJ. Pretty sure they'll have announced the 2017 site well before then.

The NFL announced today that Houston is a finalist for Super Bowl LI.

San Francisco and Miami are competing to host Super Bowl L (50). The loser of that competition will go against Houston to host Super Bowl LI (51).

The host cities for Super Bowl L and LI will be announced at the owner's meeting in May 2013.

    Good stuff.

It essentially comes down to the loser vs completion of the rail system. There's no way we lose this if the rail is 100% completed.

Miami's always a favorite. They've hosted the game 10 times as has New Orleans. It will have been 6 or 7 years since the last time they've hosted it so it'd be about time for them to host it again given their history.

San Fran is getting a brand new stadium and brand new stadiums tend to get at least 1 Super Bowl now.

I'm thinking we're going to lose out to both cities.

I am perfectly happy if Houston does NOT get to host a Super Bowl. I can't remember the last time a team has done well when their city hosted one.

    Since 2005:

2006 Super Bowl (Detroit)- Lions missed the play-offs leading up to it.
2007 Super Bowl (Miami) - Dolphins missed the play-offs leading up to it.
2008 Super Bowl (Phoenix) - Cardinals missed the play-offs leading up to it. They made it the next year but lost anyway and haven't been back since.
2009 Super Bowl (Tampa Bay)- Bucs missed the play-offs leading up to it.
2010 Super Bowl (Miami) - Dolphins missed the play-offs leading up to it.
2011 Super Bowl (Dallas) - 'Boys missed the play-offs leading up to it.
2012 Super Bowl (Indianapolis) - Colts missed the play-offs leading up to it.
2013 Super Bowl (New Orleans) - Saints currently 1-4 so TBD.

Shoot, there may be Super Bowls before 2005 that had teams that didn't make play-offs either. I definitely the Texans missed the play-offs the year they hosted it.

I'd be fine if Houston loses. Means they will still be making the play-offs every year.

I think Houston ends up getting it (after San Fran gets the 2016 game). There was a LOT of negative feedback after the 2010 Super Bowl about facilities in Miami not being up to par. This was in today's AP story:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/sport...7b16c8-17e3-11e2-a346-f24efc680b8d_story.html

My guess is since these upgrades are "promised" but not complete or even started, the owners will make Miami wait a few extra years.

I don't think the rail will have any impact. I can't believe any of the decision makers will say," hey Houston has added more rail, lets pick Houston".

It is remarkable that out of all that butchered grammar you still manage to spell South Florida and San Francisco correctly with proper capitalization. Honest question, do you type a sentence then go back over it to see how bad you can spell it again?
