Moving to the Houston area and I'm exploring the idea of getting Rockets/Texans season tickets. Anyone want to give me some insight on cost, process, waiting list, deadlines, etc?
Rockets, it's easy, just visit their site. Texans on the other hand, you'll have to get on the waiting list, or I think this is how it works. You have to purchase a PSL from someone, just so you have the rights to buy tickets for that seat.
For the Texans you can get on a years long waiting list or buy a PSL at PSL market place (sticker shock warning)
Just a heads up. In the upper decks (Level 600) for the Texans, you don't need a PSL, just buy the seats. I think the prices per seat range from ($380-$600) for the season in the upper decks. Those aren't the actual numbers, just given you a ball park figure. I am in the upper deck endzone. Honestly don't mind the seats myself.
I'd rather spend that kind of money on Sunday ticket and Sunday BBQs. You'd need binoculars to see the ball, literarily. Not to mention parking and concession cost.
The home experience has really developed into something as entertaining as going to the game. Sunday ticket/Red zone channel, better food, more friends and you dont have to drive home and miss any games. If I were TC I'd save the money from season tickets, and splurge on good seats for the 1-2 games I'd really want to watch. What you would be missing out on is the season ticket holder priority for playoff tickets.
No issues with any of this, and there's also the fact that it will almost completely consume your day. This is just silly and not close to being true, even in the upper deck.
I sat in 609, row K last year and it was great. I actually prefer sitting a little higher to see the plays develop and the full view. I was in the 3rd row on the field last year against the Titans (Andre vs Finnegan game), and while it was awesome being so close, all I saw were guys running around, but I couldn't really tell what the hell was going on. I too had a feeling that my seats were gonna suck and that it would be hard to see everything, but it was really great. I could read the players names on the jerseys from where I was. It's not as bad as you would imagine. It's like ebay. You can bid on something and the PSL owner can decide to accept it or not. Those are all resale value that the owner of the PSL's set. The actual ticket prices aren't bad.
i agree. I've sat in the 600 section one time, around the 45 yard line, and it isn't that bad at all. In fact, it was one of the better places i've sat in terms of being able to see plays develop. Sometimes when you sit too close it's hard to tell what's happening
Yup. That's the reason each team has numerous staff members in the upper box (above the 600s, adjacent to press seating). Very relevant place to watch a game.
It's a different experience...both are pretty darn good. When I have (invariably cheap, it's how I roll) tickets I do most of my eating and drinking at a pre-game tailgate..so concession prices aren't that relevant, just have a beer or two to stall the hangover. The energy of being around 80 thousand (mostly) Texans fans is kicked up a few notches from being at home, eating my food and watching my fantasy players on Red Zone during commercials. But both are great...darn it football season, lets get this party started.
Waiting list is less than a year. I was on the wait list maybe 6 months and then was invited to a meeting for purchasing options at the end of last month.
Not calling you a liar, but I've been on the waiting list for over 3 years and in that time the only tickets that have come available were club seats. I had to use the PSL marketplace to get mine.
