It's better for everyone if we let our nation be obese, diabetic AND uninsured.
We weed out the unintelligent, and reduce our entitlement costs.

I really wish soda companies in the U.S would at least use real sugar in the fountain drinks instead of high fructose corn syrup.

Banning big gulps at movie theaters and sporting events is not even going to cause a dent in obesity.

Ideally there should be higher tax on pure junk food like soda and candy to control consumption, but the uproar from the manufacturers would be tremendous.

Really, people just need to be educated other than just knowing that soda is "bad for you".

So is Social Security. Someone who dies at 55 never having collected SS is a plus on the entitlement side compared to someone who lives to 90 and collects 25 years of SS checks.

This is a bad idea. Banning is gonna upset a lot of people. Do what they did with cigs, put a tax on it. Taxes is not a great idea either but much better than a straight banning.

Hightop cares so much about these issues that he spends all day posting them on a message board forum where maybe 30-something people actively post. WAY TO GO HIGHTOP, THAT WILL SOLVE ALL THE PROBLEMS YOU CARE SO MUCH ABOUT.

Do neither. Governments shouldn't be pushing what they deem as healthy dietary habits on citizens. At least with smoking a government could use second-hand smoke as a justification.

I didn't forget. It has nothing to do with anything. Just more liberals littering a perfectly reasonable discussion. such as http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=220390. Same people most the time.

An over-weight person living to 70 on Medicaid/Medicare costs too.

In a way, this is a tax increase. If someone wants more than 16 oz, they will have to buy another drink. The sales on two 16 oz drinks will be higher than on one 32 oz.

I still don't. Just more liberals using the same normal tactic of pretending like a story isn't worth discussing.

Hmm tough one... on one hand I do not like obese people increasing my health care costs...

On the other hand, the government has no damn buisness telling me what I can and cannot eat or drink, I am not a child....

In either case, I fail to see what Michelle Obama has to do with this.... A Republican is pushing for the change....

When you stub your toe do you blame Obama?

perhaps Hightop was suggesting this should be a federal, rather than a state or municipal issue????

Erm, I hate to say this, but the last sentence in that creepy Michelle Obama pic you posted is actually true, parents DON'T always know what's best for their children.

You're increasingly irrational hatred and anger towards our president and his family warrants close monitoring.

so why do you defend the OP using sensationalistic images of the First Lady to perpetuate the discussion about public health?

Mayor Bloomberg has been doing this for years.

so what does the Republican mayor and his policies have anything to do with anything "liberal"
