What's better on DH, a two-handed+quiver or two one-handed crossbows?

Generally it is much easier to find a 2 handed + quiver or even 1 handed plus quiver that will give you better dps.

dual wielding gives you +15% attack speed, but it alternates between the two weapons so they both need to be ~ the same dps or the lower dps weapon will drag your over all dps down. Getting two roughly equal good dps 1h xbows while leveling is usually much more difficult to do.

There is a good discussion on demon hunter mechanics and builds here.

Here is some general info specific to your question:

    Q: Which should I use:
    - Bow
    - Crossbow
    - 2x Hand crossbows
    - 1x Hand Crossbow with quiver
    - 1x Hand crossbow with shield
    - Nonbow weapon (For the odd Bowless DH)

A: Because this is a fairly subjective question, for the most part, it comes down to personal preference. Some general guidelines however:

    - The Archery passive is affected differently depending upon your weapon:

    Bows: 15% more damage
    Crossbows: 50% More crit damage
Hand Crossbows: 10% more crit chance

This makes it subjective to not only your weapon but also for your other skills.

    - In general, attack speeds on long-range weapons come in their natural state as follows:

Bows: 1.40 Attacks per second (APS)
    Crossbows: 1.10 APS
    Hand Crossbows: 1.60 APS

So you see, it all depends on how fast you would like to attack. Crossbows are the slowest, bows are fairly quick, and hand crossbows are the fastest. This is also of course changed by quivers, as well as by dual-wielding hand crossbows which gives an inherent 15% faster attack speed.

    - Lastly, by following logic, one would find that different APS effect the efficiency of your Hatred-generating attacks vs. your
    Hatred-spending attacks.

Bows: Median Hatred Generator / Median Hatred Spender
Crossbows: Least efficient Hatred Generator / Most efficient Hatred Spender
Hand Crossbows: Most efficient Hatred Generator / Least efficient Hatred Spender

In conclusion, it all comes down to your style of play. If you just like the ridiculously quick dual Hand Crossbows, go for it. If you like the slow, methodical, heavy hitting crossbow, go for it. Or if you like something in between, feel free to use the bow

Had to share an exhilarating Auction House story of mine that just happened tonight.

I just hit Inferno with my Witch Doctor (only beat the Skeleton King for now, so far Act I Inferno is easy), and I decided to cruise around the AH for a better ceremonial knife. The one I had was doing around 550 dps and had mana regen and vitality, that was all. On my first search, I spotted a knife that had just been posted and was drastically, drastically underpriced, and much better than the knife I had. Something like 670 dps, plus like 50 int and 80 vit (or possibly the other way around), and 8 mana regen. I bought it out immediately. I'm sure the only reason I got it was because I was the first person who saw it.

When I do a search to try to find a better knife that also has mana regen, int, and vit, I find a single one that is markedly better selling for 300,000 (about 25 more dps, more vit and int). And even that one seems drastically underpriced, since all the ones below it don't even crack 600 dps (again, the one I bought is 670).

So, guess how much I spent on my knife?

    Wait for it...

    Wait for it...

    Wait for it...

    5,000 gold.

Yeah, that's right, I got a knife for 5,000 gold that had no business being sold for less than 300,000. Whoever sold that thing must be kicking himself when it sold in the first 5 seconds of going up, then realizing how much it was really worth. Or maybe he remains oblivious. More power to him.

TL;DR -- I got a really epic steal on the AH, paying about 1-2% of market value for a ceremonial knife. Mwhahaha!

This is the problem I have with the AH - how do you do the due diligence to find out what your items you want to sell are actually worth? What is the best, fastest and easiest way to do this?

take the best stats of your item, and search for specific item with those stats, then list it around it's value

for example, u found nice 2hand axe
    1.4k damage
    100str
    200vit
    2.1% life leech

so you go to the AH, u look for a 2hand weapon with
    min 100str
    min 200vit
    min 2.1% life leech

look for comparable items, see their list time, if it's high 1day + many hours, list it at comparable price, otherwise, undercut by a little

you always want to go with an economy price, it's better to have it sold then list another item, than to have that item sit there for 2 days and stop your cash flow

    Ugh.

How hard will it be for Bliz to add a button in the AH called 'Find Similar' ? You know, you click your item, and then click 'Find Similar'. Or even click an item for sale, and click 'Find Similar'.

Nothing more fun than spending 10k on an item and then finding the same or slightly better item for 700.. ugh. And the same is in reverse, as noted above, selling an item for way less than it could have sold for.

I hate to keep doing it, but on the AH in WoW, I can find similar items to what I am selling very quickly and easily, much more easily than having to manually enter the stats and searching. They GOTTA get this thing ironed out!

the item system between the 2 games are very different, it's very 'rare' to find 2 rares alike, especially going into the 6 attribute territory and possibly up to 3 socket slots, it's tough for them to 'find similar' because they won't know which of the 6 attributes people prefer the most
as is an example if you found a ring:
    str
    int
    vit
    gold find
    life on hit
    socket

different people can find this ring desirable for different reasons

in WoW, the items were pretty much the same, you look up 1 item, sort by least b/o and sell at equal value or undercut them

Yeah it's definitely more complex. Then is there at least a way to keep one item on-screen so you can compare it with others in the AH? If you can't compare two or more, that makes it extremely difficult as well..

    Sigh.

Bliz, call me dudes, I will point y'all in the right direction...

You can get good stuff for less than 10K per item.

Ya, I would love to have resist all stuff, but like I said, I am dirt poor (only 50K) right now.

I am starting a wiz so I would have have to get too close to attack, currently at level 21.

don't get too hung up on resists, you wont really need it until mid a2 inferno and above

dont drop too much money on 40 all res + crappy other stats

i made the mistake of spending around 100k an item on stuff like
    40 all res
    150 armor
    60 vitality

those are terrible, now i'm saving, and planning to drop 1mil each on items with
    40 all res
    150+ str
    80 vit

Here is a good video on gearing a barbarian for inferno from a player who has soloed inferno diablo with his barbarian.

those do every1 in, lasers, desecration, plague(this one only sucks if your dps is bad), frozen is not hard

the stat priority is armor > all res > vit > str > phy res

i went by that code when i first got to inferno, the result was that i didn't die, but i don't kill stuff either, and just spams revenge, to the point where nightmare and knockback champs would not die and i eventually succumb to the death timer

i dropped a lot of gold for a polearm with a ton of str and attack speed, the result? i just crush everything, it allowed me to easily breeze by act1, kill bosses in act2, and not feel like a gimp in act3

personally, this is how i would prioritize stats:
    offense:
    str
    attack speed

    defense:
    armor
    all res
    phy res
    vitality

    unless u can find a 900 dps 1hander, go with a 2hander

    search for items like this
    all res > 40
    str > 100
    vitality > 50

those will cost you a pretty penny, but they're worth it, and shouldnt be outrageously expensive, it'll get you to a point where you're able to farm stuff consistently to score good loot and turn a profit on the AH
