Can't help but admire Rondo. What an epic performance from him. Still wasn't enough, although I must say the refs were the difference tonight, plain and simple. Really disgraceful.
We'll see.. Celtics are likely not going to see this shooting from Rondo this season again. Had KG played better Celts run away with this one. If Rondo can shoot as half as good as he did tonight and Boston gets homecooking they can win the next two.
Everything aside, this is something that I find disconcerting about the NBA. Not just the Heat, though because of Lebron and Wade, the problem is magnified. Star offensive wing players gets the benefit of the doubt so much, even more nowadays because apparently breathing on them is a foul. Every single time Wade goes iso and bull-charges for the hoop I'm at a loss for how anyone can realistically guard it aside from trying their best to draw a charge, because anything else is an and-one. I mean it-- does anyone know how you guard that? He gets the call almost always for just barreling into the defender. I actually found it somewhat surprising that Kobe seems to be getting less calls for similar moves, but then again he still gets a lot of really good calls as well. The NBA needs serious fixing and starting at flopping should be the first on the list, though it will obviously never happen.
I don't see what other option Pierce had in that situation.....if he doesn't step up Wade gets an easy one. Like JVG said when you get broken down in the center of the court bad things happen.
Stupidity for playing fundamentally good defense? Isn't there something wrong with that statement. You're saying Pierce was stupid for making the right play.
Didn't watch most of the game, but seemed like the heat were more aggressive than the celtics. The blown call with rondo in OT was the only questionable thing I saw since I started watching with 7 minutes left in the 4th
he did bring his arms barely down from vertical. and even bigger, wade had such a head of steam that the defender is almost never going to get the benefit of the doubt on that much contact. if you have the offensive player a little corraled by another defender and go straight up/lean a little, you can get the non-call. if you let him have a free run from the 3 point line the benefit of the doubt just almost never goes to the defense in the 20+ years of the nba i've watched. bad miss on that rondo drive though. at least in the middle of blowing game-winners lebron got the rebound to prevent the celtic shot that could have won it. and he got to the line the few possessions before that to kind of save the game. weird, but very good, game.
He's saying wade and Bron get the benefit of the doubt and as such Pierce shouldn't even be int he way. Which is the problem with these superstar calls. It punishes guys for playing good defense, when yous see Bron or Wade coming in the paint move out the way and don't touch them.
awwwwww, lechoke makes his final two free throws and Miami wins. bad night to be a heat hater in b4 "refs"
what are you talking about THE GAME WAS OVER AS SOON AS WADE MADE THE FREE-THROW Doc Rivers is a HELL OF a Coach. Easily a Top 5 Coach in the NBA
Rajon Rondo is my 2nd favorite PG in the league now behind Rose. Incredible performance that is another chapter written in an incredible year. This guy is quickly on his way to being one of the best PGs of all time.
not only that, no bosh, james with a poor shooting game, and they missed 16 FTs... all these things will not happen again
REF EVERYBODY THE SAME WAY, CALL EVERY TRAVEL, DOUBLE DRIBBLE, CARRY. AND WE WILL FIND OUT FOR OURSELVES WHO IS REALLY A SUPERSTAR
His BBiq is INSANE, he has great timing, and rarely turns the ball over I cant believe Danny Ainge wants to trade this guy
