I think Morey thought he would start over Bud. Thank god he found that guy in the second round. But my blood still boils when I think that of Leonard still on the board.

The top 14 on Morey's draft board means who do you think Morey ranks as the top 14 players in this draft, irregardless of position. It's not about who we got on the roster and what we need, it's about who he thinks are the best possible players.

I'm sure some of you noticed I don't have PJIII or Drummond or Jeremy Lamb on my list. My reason is I don't think Morey values guys that have to develop over long periods of time and I think he crosses guys off the list that don't play up to their potential in college. If they don't play up to their potential in college, how are they going to do it in the pros?? In my opinion, Morey is very critical of players like that and if he is drafting and they are sitting there, he'll trade down to steer away from them while some other GM takes a "chance" on them turning into something special.

As for Terrence Ross and other SGs, hey if guys don't get to the FT line a lot in the college game, it simply means they most likely aren't ever going to get there in the NBA where they are playing against bigger, stronger, faster, more athletic defenders. One of the first things I look at when I look at college prospects is how many times to they get to the FT line, how many shots do they put up compared to how many FTs they shoot. Ross is a JAP, just another player. I don't think Morey values those kinds of guys real high since you can get them in the 2nd round all the time.

I didn't have Leonard on the list either. Maybe should have stuck him in there somewhere. But he's another developmental guy like Drummond. I think Morey tends to devalue those guys because so many of them never develop.

In contrast, Morey actually values guys that produce on the college level. And nobody produced like Lillard. And Lillard is going to be playing in the NBA where the game is more wide open than it is in college. And he's aggressive to the rim, got decent size for a point. I would bet he's in Morey's top 5, even though he's from rinky-dinkville.

Shoulda picked Kawhi Leonard last draft. Hopefully we can trade Lowry to the Raptors and pick 8th at least. Picking mid round holds no allure to me this year. Let's bet the farm and clean house. I am finally sick of the mediocrity, this is the first year I missed any games because of not caring. Let's take a flyer on PJIII or Lamb - put them in our top 14. Not like we will win the championship next year. Beal or Barnes would be awesome.

No real reason we shoulda picked Kawhi when we got a very similar (and better, I think) player in Parsons.

So, who do you think Morey has rated as the top 14 players in this draft?

To get an idea about Morey's list we need someone to do the complex analytics that Morey likes to do and apply them to the draft prospects.

Remember Morey usually picks the best player available, don't think too hard about need.

Yes. As we've seen the last couple of years, Morey's 1st round picks always get immediate PT.

Morey is only good at picking second rounder.

That's remarkably close to what I would say, but I would move Beal down a spot or two.

Oh, and I think Drummond is definitely in Morey's top 10, although I don't know if he makes Morey's top 5.

Sullinger is more suited to play the 5 even if he is two inches too short.

Agree 100%. He can use his strength to affect shots on defense at the 5, like Chuckwagon does. He will never have the lateral agility to compete with quicker 4s.

I've never understood the fascination with labeling Morey as the guy who drafts undersized PFs. All the forwards Morey has drafted.

    At PF
    Landry(undersized)
    Patterson(normal)
    Motiejunas(oversized)

    At SFs
    Morris(oversized)
    Parsons(oversized)
    CBud(normal)

It's as if drafting one undersized 4 in his first year has somehow made it a trend.:confused:

Those players are most certainly included. Because if the Rockets don't actually move up, they will have too many picks anyway. And taking a flyer on a high upside/high bust player becomes an easy decision.
