So, if Clutch's article is correct, and Dwight would have been traded to the Rockets had he not opted in, and now he regrets the fact that he opted in, does he regret turning down the opportunity to play for the Rockets?

But I thought he did it for the fans.

I smelled that bluff from a mile away.

Waaaaait....you know what this means? He regrets not being traded to houston....and to think right now all of us would have been flooding his twitter begging him to stay.

I dont think it has anything to do with us... i think it has everything to do with the circus in orlando(because of him) and the fact it is alot harder to pair up with deron now... of course he regrets it....

Yeah, he would probably be packing his bags right now. I don't think he cares about the monat (dwight probably cares more about his agent than he does the money) and I'm sure a lot of people in orlando are questioning his injury. Do you know he's only missed three games since his rookie season prior to this one? All of those people saying he is injury prone need to stop.

I don't know why people are giving Dwight a hard time. Didn't he actually do what was in his best interest from a financial perspective? He wants to sign a long-term deal with "bird rights". He doesn't want to do so in Orlando. He doesn't want to do so in Houston. He realized he was going to be traded to Houston, and would have to either commit to playing in Houston going forward (which he didn't want to do), or walk to another team, but for less money (which he doesn't want to do).

He signed the opt-in, knowing full well that it provided him with a new window to dictate where he wanted to play, while still getting paid. His downside risk is that he's so pissed off Magic management that they trade him wherever they want to - ie a team like Houston, willing to "rent" him - or that a rental team offers the best package, and he is stuck in the same spot he was last year, only he's wasted a year and half.

The Rockets need to stay away. Dwight clearly does not want to play in Houston

Finally, a poster that has common sense in all of this Dwight Howard non-sense.

What is the point of trading for a player who doesn't want to play on your team (and has indirectly made that clear - opt back in with the Magic)? If he decides to leave that's a big gaping hole in the roster, along with the void left by the traded assets.

He wants to get to Brooklyn in some shape or form, and play with Deron Williams. Honestly, I do not see the problem in that with prospective free agent. It's only the way he's going about doing, which destroying his image, royally.

Remember on one hand, it's not really the player's fault, entirely. It's more of team's forced hand to trade the player and gain some sort of assets for them. Typically in the other sports, you just let a player walk, but a superstar having so much pull and demand on a "mediocre franchise." It makes or breaks franchise (and that player in question has shown frustration about management's acquisitions) and people wonder why some of these teams never win, anything significance.

If I were Dwight Howard (in his shoes) from what I've seen with the franchise. For the most part, it would be very hard to resign with the Magic, if I truly wanted to win an NBA title or play on a strong contender. Moreover, I wouldn't waste my time with teams, like Golden State or Houston. They are not ready for prime time and are in somewhat chaotic situations with quixotic expectations. Neither teams is going to compete for a title with Dwight Howard and less substantial pieces than they have right now.

And, we're supposed to feel sorry for Orlando, if they lose for the next 10-20 seasons.

Dwight was simultaneously confused and arrogant when he signed the 1 year opt-in. He was crazy enough to think this would give him a better image in Orlando, but arrogant enough to think that he could still dictate where he would be traded.

If he really wanted to play in NJ, he should have just not signed the opt-in. Then when he left all he had to do was be gracious to Orlando and not pull a LeBron.

I think his agent convinced him that he could still get to NJ and get max money by opting in, allowing the agent to take a bigger cut. Howard probably couldn't see that his agent was working against his desire to play for the Nets.

The assets we have are just depreciating. If he leaves we will suck and get a high lottery pick. I see nothing wrong with it. Scola, Martin, Lowry, Parsons + 2 1st round pick for Howard.

The Magic get 2 1st + Parson + Lowry who are all young, and they get two veterans as well.

    Then out team would be:
    Howard/Camby
    Ppat/Dmon
    Bud/Morris
    Lee/ bud
    Dragic/Lull

That isn't a bad team for us.

His image has gone down, but at least it's not like Lebron. LBJ came off looking like an ass, while Howard just seems clueless. He'll be forgiven fast.
