They say us winning the a top 3 pick is hte same odds as us going over .500 three years in a row and not making the playoffs.

Everyone keep your fingers crossed, get out your lucky rabbits foot, avoid any black cats crossing your path, don't walk under any ladders, avoid breaking any mirrors, etc........

What else causes good luck? What else should we all avoid today???

I don't expect us to move up, but I am crossing my fingers and really hoping we do. I think we have better odds of hitting the lottery than landing Williams or Dwight this offseason, so it might just be our best chance at an immediate shot in the arm to drastically improve this team.

Do you think we will just get lucky or do you really think Stern is going to pay us back for how he screwed us on the Gasol deal? I think it is more likely if he has any hand in it that NJ gets the top pick and the Hornets get no. 2 or 3. I seriously doubt he gives a crap about paying us back.

Had we been in the top 8 I could have seen it happening. But our odds are way to slim for it to not look rigged.

    #1 Hornets
    #2 Bobcats
    #3 Nets

[rquoter]The Rockets simply must find a way to make their way out of this perpetual mediocrity, but drafting midway through the first round on a consistent basis is a tough way to get that done. What's more, they face free-agent situations both this summer (point guard Goran Dragic, shooting guard Courtney Lee, centers Marcus Camby and -- with a $1.5 million buyout option -- Samuel Dalembert) and next (shooting guard Kevin Martin) that make it tough to assess the greatest position of priority. Translation: Take the best available player. The beauty of this draft, according to many of the league's personnel men, is that the player selected in the teens could wind up being the All-Star. It's both deep and difficult to project. Henson could be a worthy addition if he lasted until the end of the lottery, while Leonard and Melo could help protect the paint too. Otherwise, one of the top shooting guards is likely to fall, be it Lamb, Rivers, Ross, or Waiters (Beal, I've been assured, will not).[/rquoter]

"5. HOW OFTEN DOES A LONG-SHOT COME IN?

Under the current format in place since ’94, only six teams slotted seventh or lower have moved up to the top three. The most recent time it happened was last year, when Cleveland owned the Clippers’ pick and moved from No. 8 to No. 1 and took Kyrie Irving.

The team slotted 14th has never moved up,
the No. 13 team has moved up only once (Charlotte to 3rd in 1999),
the No. 12 team has never hit,
the No. 11 team has moved up only once (Orlando, 1993, No. 1 overall),
the No. 10 pick has moved up once (1990, Charlotte, to 2nd),
    the No. 9 pick has moved up once (Chicago, 2009, to No. 1 overall);
and last year was the first time the No. 8 pick moved up to No. 1."

If you are the Rockets, realistically speaking, if you want to get solid playoff seed or contend for a title, then every position should be open at starter.

If we get a top 3 pick in the draft, would you rather

    (A) Keep the pick and build for the future
    (B) Trade the pick for 1 year no extension guaranteed Dwight Howard

    ???
