What is ur point? Did I ever say the Rockets can win a championship with this roster? Hell no......obviously they have to get much better. My point is that the spurs do not have a top 5 player i.e. supersar and yet are dominating the league. Is that so hard for you to understand?

For a one year run, Duncan wouldn't be one of the 10 guys or so in the league to build a team around?

Duncan at this point in his career is not one of the 10 best players in the NBA. He is not a superstar. He is a good player that is smart and plays within this spurs system very efficiently, but he is NOT the centerpiece to a championship team.

So since YOU don't think they have superstars by your expectations, then they dont have superstars.

I'll take Tony Parker as a franchise point guard.
He's already won a Finals MVP. This year, he was insanely awesome.

Really? Even if the Spurs win the championship? I think (again, for a one year run), Duncan would still be picked in the top 8-15 players in a draft of all current players.

Parker had a MVP level season this year. Before he broke his hand Manu's numbers had him as the most efficient player..

I won't argue there....he is definitely playing like a superstar these last 30 games but would any of you said he was a superstar before this season started? NO. He is the only guy on the spurs that is even debatable. So you can keep arguing about how the spurs have so many stars and are so damn talented but in the end the thunders talent trumps the spurs and look at how they are being dominated which goes to my initial point about the system being just as important.

    This.

These guys have Hall of Fame resumes'. Call them what you want, Tony Parker, Manu, & Duncan are future Hall of Famers in my book.

This thread is just bad.....we don't have any player who is ever remotely comparable to Parker, Ginobli or Duncan.

You could say Lowry, but that is one hell of a stretch

Their stars are past prime, but their coach is priming. If you have a basketball genius coaching your team and a bunch of high character, veteran, smart players, it's possible.

Ginobili euro-stepping with ease to the basket has little to do with Pop.

But their offensive and defensive adjustments, as their main players got older, do.

you got the lesson all wrong.

    the lesson:

    1. superstars who are unselfish
    2. drafting the superstars
    3. consistency for the front office and coaching staff
    4. great mix of old and young players
    5. building team chemistry slowly
