After a while, Sasha's comedy just doesn't do it for me anymore. Especially after that Bruno disaster... **** that!
Watched the movie last night. I always enjoy these stupid comedies and are even funnier when you go in with very low expectations. Some good guest appearances from John Salley, Edward Norton, Megan Fox, and a few others. I'd give it a 7/10, pretty funny though.
Also, DD makes his major motion picture debut as scared helicopter passenger #1  ... the full scene is so much better <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/alfpT0Dy-SA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I'd say it is no worse than Borat. The movie was funny throughout. Same humor as Borat/Bruno, very offensive. I don't remember many quotes, but I'd watch it again, without a doubt.
Saw this today: 4/10. It had it's funny moments, I liked the jabs at the hipster "we can free the world with twitter" subculture as well as some of the underlying political humour and jokes about the Arab culture. I didn't like choice of Anna Faris, I also didn't like the copious amounts of potty humour and dick jokes, that really disappointed me. We're not all 14 years old, Sacha- a good comedian shouldn't have to resort to such cheap humour so often. Personally, I would have preferred a mockumentary. I think that would have been much funnier, although that might have been over the heads of its' intended audience. I get discounted tickets at the theatre I went to, and it was a matinee so it was worth the $5 for admission- but I would recommend saving this for when it comes out on Netflix.
Bad timing on the release imo.. Usually when it comes to Summer movies, comedy is the last thing I want to see in theaters...
I saw it this weekend, went in thinking I would get a couple of good laughs but I thought the entire movie was hilarious. So many great quotes, and the whole helicopter scene was flat out hilarious! Big fan, especially seeing Rafi from the league and his lines about the Dictator being a douche were so excellent. BTW- Big fan of potty humor, big fan of this movie. I never watched Bruno, liked Borat but this movie was just funny as hell.
Thank you for this. Movies like this are usually low brow. I find it weird that people complain about it when they know full well how the movie is going to turn out.
My wife and I saw this. We both want our 1.5 hours of life back. 5% funny, 95% "when does Batman come out? this sucked". It might depend on your age. Maybe younger people find it funnier. (I'm 43.) I have reached the point where I'm ambivalent about seeing Avengers more than once in the theater. My recommendation is don't spend money to see it.
I'm with you, that explain my tolerance towards movies like this.. Seen Avengers, don't need to see it again, comedies I can only tolerate the old classics like buster keaton/Laurel & Hardy/Little Rascals, etc......
It is offensive and I am not a fan of dicks or dick jokes. They just aren't funny to me. However I though the movie was funny.
