Mason was 10 years older and 4 inches shorter. I'm all for giving MSW a look. Potential reward well outweighs the risk.
Now to be serious, I'm not sure if I'd expect anything out of MSW at all. I'd advise all the guys not being sarcastic to temper your excitement.
Actually, the Texans don't even have a 2nd best #1 receiver. So by default the best #2 in franchise history is the 2nd best receiver in franchise history. But sadly, if Sims-Walker or one of our rookies outperform Jacoby, he probably would be considered the 3rd best receiver in franchise history. Yet he'd still likely be our 4th or 5th option in the passing game behind AJ, Daniels, and Foster. Oh, how crappy our receivers have been over the years.
Maybe so, but it was funny... I hope a challenge for Walter but afraid it's more a replacement for Bryant Johnson.
he was a real dissappointment last year I am not sure what specific injuries he has been battling, but it seems over the past 2 years he has either been a non-factor or on IR
I thought Bradie James' contract was small enough that it didn't count against the supplemental pick formula? Not sure what MSW would sign for.
I see no downside to this. Get the dude into training camp and see what he's got. And the Freaking NFL season cannot begin soon enough. Good God, please let this Summer pass quickly.
Yeah, and not because I am anxious for the Rockets to start again. I am real, real tired of the Rockets; real tired. Bring on the Texans, let's do this.
It won't. Signing guys to the veteran minimum doesn't count against getting those compensatory picks. MSW would be getting the minimum if he signed which is what everyone else got as well (James, Donnie Jones, Shayne Graham). A team can get a maximum of 4 compensatory picks and right now we have 5 guys that we qualified picks for in Mario, Briesel, Dressen, Jason Allen, and Neil Rackers without any signings taking a pick away.
He's got to be better than some of the retreads and never have beens we had at the tail end of the depth chart the past few years
he was cut by the rams and became the #3 wr in jacksonville last season before getting put on ir for knee injury. pass
He had some character issues in Jax the year he broke out. He is a low risk high reward possibility. Has one thing you can't teach and that is size. If they can actually get him to work on our team and shows something then he could be a really nice pick up to put alongside AJ.
He had a dead end QB throwing to him in Jax, both times. He had no time to get open in St. Louis thanks to their ****ty O-line and mediocre QB. He seems to get injured a lot. Get him in camp, see what he does and pray he stays healthy if he can learn the system quickly. I think if healthy he would be a great end zone threat. Low risk/High reward for a minimum contract. I'm cool with it.
no kidding, when you hear, well... he isn't all that..bla, bla ..no **** or he wouldn't be avail. but given what he could offer, why not? Our rookie rec. may be awesome, but the smart thing is to bring ina vet. for the added depth considering only walter & johnson with exp. & he is better/has more to offer than what we tried for depth last year...
