Boobie Gibson can shoot 3s. Iverson still looks like he can play. J'Covan Brown, coming out of Texas is a scorer and can 'ball out of his mind.
That is not entirely inaccurate. What you have to remember is superstars are not supermen. They still need a bench. This is the flaw with the new and most current superteams. After spending up all of their "assets" they are left with garbage benches and are forced to push those stars too much. This is where teams like Indiana, OKC, Phillie and Houston can benefit. The Rockets have a pretty good bench. If they were to change their strategy as i suggested, they could have a very good bench this up coming season.
Morey obtained draft prospects from previous years (Thabeet, Hill and Williams) through trades hoping for a diamond in the rough. Unfortunately those players were not very productive on the team and they were eventually traded. That being said the 2012 draft prospects show a lot of promise. I does not guarantee we will find a star but we can hope. I see the OP's point, if we do trade it has to be for a very high pic. Morey's worry is that the teams with the high pics are also rebuilding and so they may not want to give up their high pics for veterans. Morey has to be careful opposing GM's may try to swindle Morey into giving up too much.
We need to try to get a future first rounder out of the bulls for Kyle Lowry. Rose is going to out for most of next season and when he comes back will need to have his minutes restricted. Earl Watson and Jl3 are not going to cut if for the whole season. By the time Rose is fully healed Lowry contract will be expiring and easy to move. A future first and Asik for Lowry would be a great move for both sides.
So now we have the opportunity to pick up the #6, 10, 11 and #18. It is all being laid out for us. That is potentially a line-up of: Lillard Taylor Ross/Barton D-Mo and Moultrie Melo/Ezeli/O'Quinn You telling me you all would not get behind a line-up like this?? I guarantee if it were to go down this way, space would be made to accomodate.
Lets take a look back at 2010's draftees after 2 seasons J.Wall- rotation player(rp) E.Turner- rp Favors- rp Johnson- rp Cousins- rp Udoh- rp Monroe- rp Aminu- rp Hayward- rp George- rp Aldrich? Henry- rp Davis- rp Patterson- rp Sanders- rp Babbitt? Seraphin- rp Bledsoe- rp Bradley- rp Anderson- rp Brackins? E. Williams- rp Booker- rp James- rp D. Jones? Poindexter- rp Crawford- rp Vasquez- rp Orton? L. Hayward? As you can see, all but 5 or 6 players in the 1st are now known to be contributors on their respective teams. There were maybe like four 2nd rounders to do the same. So it is safe to say that the 2010 draft had some depth to it, right? The 2012 draft is rumored to be deeper than 2010 with better quality players in the lower part of the 1st round all the way through to the mid 2nd. So, again i say, if there were a draft to rebuild from, it would be 2012. Now is that time to rebuild people. Use our starters(Dragic(resigned), Lee, Parsons, D-Mo/Pats, Camby) as the "star" to build around.
The key to this strategy is good scouting. One thing that Morey has proven is the closer he is to the 2nd round, the better his picks are. In this case, it may even be necessary to make a couple of leaps.
