    I think it's kinda weak for the couple to file a lawsuit against her. They obviosuly have every right to, and I'm sure they were crazy scared... but, isn't shooting her enough punishment?

    I went to CU... this seems to happen often there. A buddy of mine had a homeless guy living in their basement for a good month before they figured out where the smell was coming from.

    The couple should have attemented a 3 way before shooting her.

    Excessive drunkenness should probably give her a break on intent for the specific act, but if possible it should be fully prosecuted as a separate charge. If you're looking for the worst case scenario for substance abuse, this is it. Even just to deter her from bad planning after a night out of drinking, whatever kind of book can be thrown at her is probably acceptable.

    All shootings in any context are genuinely unfortunate, but it's completely acceptable here. Master freaking bedroom? As a black guy I can't even imagine getting on a driveway in a nice neighborhood without getting shot.

    The prosecuter is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. She probably HAS already suffered a punishment that more than matches the crime, but they really do need to prosecute her.........but perhaps let her plead down to something that doesn't further wreck her life.

    Besides, you don't want a real criminal using the, "hey, I was only there 'cuz I was drunk" defense. (not saying she didn't break laws herself and isn't a "real" criminal in this case.......I'm talking about someone whose intent is to harm others and not just themselves)

    Yep, I'm going to be that guy and ask, "What if she had been a male or a minority?". Would people still think prison time be too harsh?
