Yeah solid, the Lakers have done a great job of developing the manchild. They have a lot invested in him and have already reaped some benefits. But that's a lot of time/loss of window due to injuries, patience, $$$$$,etc....Now, when he's just starting to get it, turning into a beast at the tender age of 24 (such footwork).........They deal him? LA has always been his home and I can't see that changing soon.

With all that said though, if I was Mitch, I'd be on the horn fielding offers, asking a king's ransom ... and getting it from some adventurous soul.

The problem is the downside risk of those horrible injuries. It's just not acceptable IMO for a guy that is going to be the cornerstone of a franchise.

You make some good points. The injuries are a concern, and if they want a "king's ransom" well, next.

Back injuires dont go away - they always come back and it just keeps getting worse. Id only be willing to trade him on if we dont have to take on Hedo as well.

Buss the Younger's manlove for the manchild = zero Bynum trade (unless maybe he gets superseduced into Dwight HoHo).

If I am Lakes, and I am most certainly not, I'd be major afeared of the oft injured Drew's injury likelihood going forward. PJax IMHO is the only thing separating Bynum from Zeke's Eddie Curry.

Me too. Time to either build around howard or he leaves and we truly rebuild. All these other names like noah, gasol, etc are nice players but they aren't franchise players. Howard is worth the risk. Get er done MURRAY.

Actually they do when they get older and aren't able to play the way they used to play. In most cases dominant players become a coaches nightmare at the end of their career because they cannot accept they are not as good as they used to be, and they still want to be the main focal point. Robinson and Duncan were/are exceptions to this rule.

Furthermore he was not been the focal point in 5 championships (he was the focal point in 2).

The problem with the Clippers deal is Orlando has essentially one season to get Blake to buy in to what they are doing. Otherwise, they are basically back in a Dwight -last year situation with Blake. He's a RFA. He's not interesting in going somewhere and losing. He'll be threatening to sign the QO and walk away. Coming out of the Dwight deal (if they have to move him), I just can't see Orlando with that GM wanting to back into a very familiar scenario.

Finally, people can shut it about last year's news being nothing more than a PR article.

If this actually goes down the most painful outcome of Dwight leaving after a year is going to be just like Eddie Griffin (RIP) and Shane Battier.

People are going to look at what the picks became and say "We could have had..."

If the Dwight Howard deal cannot be executed by tomorrow I am told that Houston could shift its focus to Rudy Gay.
