--Bump-- Just read that P90X2 comes out on Christmas day. Anyone thinking about getting this one? Workouts included are: Spoiler X2 Core - Next Level of Core Synergistics - Adds Plyo moves with core movements. Plyocide - More focus on lateral movements than in P90X which was more about jumping in one spot. - Also works on higher vertical movements X2 Recovery + Mobility - An entire workout dedicated to recovery shows the importance of this in the program. - This is not just about stretching. X2 Total Body - Just as it sounds. Example moves are “One-Armed Bicep Curl while in Warrior 3″, “Pull-Ups where your whole body is a crunch”, and “Plyometric Push-Ups on a Stability Ball.” X2 Ab Ripper - Fifer Scissors with an added toe touch. - Other moves used in P90X One-on-One X2 Yoga - X2 takes a back to basics approach with a focus on constant flow. For example, standing balance moves are out and the warm-up is shorter. - It condenses the very best of the best and is 65 minutes long. Balance & Power - This workout adds balance components to strength components. Chest, Back, and Balance - Many of the moves looked very similar to Chest, Back, and Balls from the P90X 1-on-1, Volume 3. - 3-Ball Plyo Push-Ups, Levers, 4-Ball Push-Ups, etc X2 Shoulders & Arms - Shoulders are the link to everything in the upper body. - The video was showing Pike Presses on 2 balls while your feet are elevated. Lying Tricep Extensions on a Stability Ball. Again, unstable surfaces will be the norm for P90X2 Base + Back - Plyo moves and Pull-Ups in one workout. Again, some similarity from the P90X 1-on-1, Volume 3 P.A.P Upper - Upper body workout that incorporates P.A.P workout science. P.A.P. Lower - Lower body workout that incorporates P.A.P. workout science. P.A.P. stands for Post Activation Potentiation Summed up as doing heavy weight lifting. Immediately after the heavy lifting, you do explosive training. You use slow twitch muscles first, then use fast twitch muscles and you will maximize your workout results. Didn't know if anyone is still doing the P90X workouts. I still do some a few times a week to change things up from the gym. Looks interesting at least.
Day 8 of Insanity. You know, it's crazy difficult and I sweat way more than any other workout I've done, but it has actually gotten easier the past few days. I think after 5-6 days of jolting my body back into extreme cardio, I've finally adjusted. Last week's Pure Cardio was pure vomit on my floor. Today's is going to be BETTER!!!!!!!! Insanity Plyo Cardio Circuit makes P90X Plyo feel like a step video.
Apologies for the slight bump. Some questions: - Which P90 to do for someone that has gotten out of shape due to life over the last 3 years. I am not obese (6'1, 195), but want to lose 15-20 with a primary focus on getting in shape and leaner. Muscle building is fine as a secondary result? - FYI: I've never been the biggest fan of extensive running - Does anyone know if you can download the series to an ipad, or do you have to have a DVD/TV combo? I was thinking of doing this in my garage. - What type of equipment and space is needed? Apparently a pull-up bar, and thus a doorway? Anything else? Thanks.
What do you mean by which one (P90, P90X, Insanity?)? Any of them will do, the main thing to keep in mind is that they can be pretty intense and if you're not in shape to begin with you can hurt yourself. Just start off slow and do what you can and work your way up. There's no running other than jogging in place as part of the warmup. You should be able to, there's probably torrents out there of the different workouts in avi or mpg files. You'll also need dumbbells or resistance bands and some sort of chair or something to do chair dips with. If you're in your garage a mat of some sort would be a good idea also.
Just do the classic version. lean is for fat women and doubles are for crazy people. you need some dumbbells, enough for a strip set. the adjustable ones work, but i prefer having 3 sets of loose dumbbells. good luck, you're going to love it!!!!
I went from a size 10 to a size 4, 155 lbs to 128 lbs, can't remember how many inches, built ridiculous core strength and was actually able to get a decent toned look to my stomach. my goal is 120, i'm still around 128. big plateau. my mom has done 4 rounds (she can't do all the moves, she's 63 and had one leg shorter than the other) but she's lost 30 lbs in the last year, she credits tony for all of it. she's already telling her red hat ladies about p90x...heh heh.
All your questions have been answered so I'll just say good luck. I'm in my 9th wk...trying to reverse decades of smoking. My main mantra is, "I can do anything for 3 months"...well, it works for me. Again, good luck!
Thanks all for the advice. I have dumbells, and of course a chair. Not so sure where I'm going to do the pull ups. Have a doorway but then don't want to have to door from the garage open to the house - electric bill high enough as is. Really hope I can figure out a way to get on my iPad. I mean I know I can - we've ripped DVDs to the Mac to the iPad plenty... But it is somewhat of a cumbersome process. I was hoping they sold a digital version - they should.
I've done it about 4 times in the past 4 years... im usually in the best shape each year right after i finish it (haha figures). Best workout program for anyone looking for lean muscle and great definition, will simply make you a healthier looking person. Im on week 3 of phase on right now; Shoulder, Bi, Tri tonight!
had just gotten to week 2, but took a nasty spill on to my shoulder in a soccer game this past wednesday...any advice on alternatives to the shoulder/back exercises that I would have lined up? pull-ups and push-ups aren't my friend right now congrats, thats is truly an awesome accomplishment. I have been stuck somewhere between 195 and 205 for like the past 4 years...but I am a dude who likes his beer
on day 3, i wouldn't call this a killer or excruciating, but it is most definitely intense. i've been able to get through days 1/2 with minimal breaks, but my rep count is ridiculously low. can definitely feel it working. eating healthier but not following diet to a t. hopefully i'll update again in 87 days or so.
Keep it up. Day 4(Yoga) is long and to me the most difficult, but the most satisfying when you're done. Then, legs/back & Kenpo are fun.
Good luck. I intend to start P90X at either the beginning of July or September (I have other serious things in my life to focus on)
