Argh 3rd try and Cavaliers ended up with Anthony Davis. I will be pissed if that happens and the Cavs end up with Irving and Davis in a span of 2 years meanwhile the Rockets are picking 14th for the 3rd straight year. Yea i know this topic has been beaten to death it would just be frustrating to see the Cavs improve that much considering our situation.
In all fairness, the reason the Cavs got Kyrie Irving has nothing to do with tanking. The Cavs agreed to take Baron Davis's monstrosity of a contract off the Clippers' hands in exchange for the Clippers' unprotected 2011 first round pick (at the time projected to be in the 8-10 range) and taking back Mo Williams and his [bad-but-not-nearly-as-bad-as-Baron's] contract. The Clippers then "won" the NBA Draft Lottery, and the rest is history. I seriously doubt the Cavs future would be looking so bright if their only rookie addition this past year was Tristan Thompson (who I really like but who is not a star like Irving). The Rockets have been trying to find trades like this for years. Take on another team's bad contract if it gets them a potentially high draft pick without the Rockets themselves having to suck. They did that when they acquired the Knicks' top-5 protected pick. To a much lesser extent, they're holding out hope that the Mavs' pick is never outside the top-20 until 2018, when it becomes unprotected. My point is that the Cavs are going to get good in large part because they got Kyrie Irving VIA TRADE. A type of trade that did not involve needing to tank or to have a high draft pick to exchange.
Bima, what I partially meant is that they unloaded a near all-star guy like Mo for a high pick and gambled. I never see this with our team.
I dont think beal is a #2 pick...height is an issue. Probably Eric gordon 2.0, but that's not a top 3 pick IMO. More like 4-5.
I swear I just clicked "Play the Lottery" and saw the Rockets get the #3 pick and take Bradley Beal. That would be a hell of a draft.
Kevin Martin is now in a similar situation to 2010-11 Mo Williams, except with a better contract. I bet the Rockets would trade him for a high lottery pick.
Can he actually be traded for a high lotto pick? Can't imagine that happening. Maybe a low lotto pick or a mid lotto pick (8th or below), depending on what kind of undesirable contract the Rockets would take back, I think. Edit: Trying to look for candidates on who might trade a lotto pick for KMart. Maybe Detroit (9th) if the Rockets take back Charlie V. Maybe GSW, if the Rockets give them Martin +14th for 7th and Biedrins? Sac has a few contracts they probably don't want, but they are below the cap by a good deal anyway. Will Washington trade, say, the 4th pick+Blatch for Martin (or Dalembert) + 14th, assuming Washington doesn't get one of the 3 lotto picks?
