Happy Max Payne 3 / Diablo 3 day! I can't believe no one else is juiced for this game. I'm more excited about MP than Diablo by far, and I've been waiting about 10 years for both. By all accounts from the previews I've been reading (and the one review I've actually seen scores on) this is looking like a GOTY contender.
Looks like the review embargos are up. IGN: 9 http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/05/14/max-payne-3-review The Verge: 9 http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/5/14/3018219/max-payne-3-review Computers and Video Games: 8 http://www.computerandvideogames.co...y-beautiful-but-not-without-its-flaws-review/ Most reviews seem to be about a 9. Metacritic has it at 8.6 after 12 reviews. http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/max-payne-3
You don't have to, they'll have flashbacks in the game I'm sure. It wouldn't hurt to wiki the plot of the first 2 though. They all have essentially the same gameplay, just this one is a different story. It also has about 9 years worth of technological advancements behind it.
Has it really been almost 10 years since the last Max Payne game? I would have probably guessed 3 years ago. Wow, scary how fast time flies. I was barely out of college.
I know right? I looked it up this morning; the original Max Payne was 2001, Fall of Max Payne was 2003. I scarcely believe it's been that long myself. The reviews are saying the multiplayer is the surprise of the game.
Loved the first one. At the time, it was pretty cutting edge and different. Haven't checked out a new game in forever, maybe this will be the one.
Pre ordering art best buy (you have to sign up for their free gamer rewards garbage) will net you a $10 gift card. That's the only thing I know of. Other than in game items.
Amazingly sick game. About to play some diablo 3 in about 15 minutes. Tomorrow night more Max Payne. The production is outstanding (Rockstar -- all of the studios -- always do a fantastic job), and the dialogue so far has been even better than the previous games. Makes me remember why I loved the first two.
See above. Yes it's quite good. Still haven't tried the multiplayer, but like most I've been playing Diablo...and mostly Counterstrike.
I still haven't beat the first one, lol. Haven't seen/played part 2 but this one seems like lot more action.
Nothing like GTA; it's very linear. There's little offshoots you can check for special items / painkillers and what not, but for the most part it's very clear where you can / can't go. The only real complaint I have is there are a lot of cinematics (and they're very well done), but some are pretty long. Naturally they take your controls away during this as well. So far though that's pretty much the only complaint I have. The difficulty level is still insanity on the hardest settings as well, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Games have gotten too soft.
I'm not buying this game new, but I started playing the first game again (the crap port for the PS2) and it's a lot of fun.
