Thought I'd share a few photos with the board.

My assignment was to shoot 2 of the 3 "Silver Boot Series" between the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers. My colleague was assigned to shoot the Friday game and I was shooting the two weekend games. I was tasked with getting a mix of people shots and game action.

Many more images can be seen here in this slideshow.

    Equipment used: Canon 5D, Canon 5D Mark II, 300mm f/4.0, 70-200mm f/2.8, 24-70mm and my 15mm f/2.8 fisheye.

Nice shots. What camera would you recommend for taking mostly still photos for a beginner (With a budget of around $500)?

Are you looking for a Point and Shoot or a full on DSLR with interchangeable lenses?

These are the questions you must ask yourself first. Once you make your decision, you can research for that type of camera and make your decision from there.

Interchangeable lenses. My wife is the one who wants one. My cellphone is all the camera I need. My assumption is I'll end up with a Canon T series.

The T-series are film cameras. If that's what you are going for, then more power to ya.

If you want to go digital you guys might want to looking into the 4/3's cameras. These are small compact cameras that will accept interchangeable lenses (some with adapters) - These are basically small DSLR's. They're very hot right now and take great photos.

Olympus, Sony & Panasonic make some models and they are really nice.

Just shows you how much I know. I guess I meant Rebel. T2/T3/T3i. Just because I see those on sale more often.

    Thanks for your help.
