I heard Ralph Sampson's knees are better...one more shot? ...and Moses Malone can still rebound, just saying.
Cheap? There probably isn't anything the Rockets can offer that would convince him to play. He knows his body can't take the abuse. I'm sure he doesn't want to do another year of rehab after his next fracture. He doesn't want to risk his longterm health and spend his golden years as a cripple so he can play a handful of meaningless games. He's got new things in his life to give him meaning and occupy his time without destroying his body. How ridiculous is this? Yao has managed to let go of his NBA career and move on with his life, but some of his fans have not.
Come on guys We all know a good big man can play until he's 40. If nothing else all they have to do is clog up the paint. He doesn't have to be what he once was to have a positive effect on our team.
He has children to raise. As much as I miss him, I say no. ove on, its like still having a crush on your high school love. That broad is long gone and letting dude tap it. ITs Over, get over it, move on. The way I keep him close to me is when I dominate online in 2k11! I spank the Heat with that Rockets roster.
Why not? He will be 31 this year, if he gets in shape, and wants to play a backup center role...sure.... DD
Yao Ming needs to be signed. By Rox. As one who can recruit stars and then develop said player's Asian marketing interests. See: Howard, Dwight. (As Exhibit '5'.)
After Yao broke his foot in the series against LA in 2008, I wondered aloud if he should just gut it out and play on it, even if it might risk cutting his career short (like McHale). Even though from the franchise's point of view that would be madness, I still wonder what might have been if he had kept playing.
As much as well wish he would I'm sure the foot problems are not something that will just go away. Yao knows this and has moved on, we need to do the same.
He did play on it, remember that year he sat out late in the season against Chicago with a sore foot, well, I think it is safe to assume it was cracked then, and he played the entire Portland series with it getting worse. DD
Sure, if he wants to stay retired, fine, but if he wants to give it another go, we won't find a better option in the draft. DD
That's the thing, knowing Yao's passion and love for the game the fact that he hasn't in the slightest mentioned a comeback tells me he knows it not an option. DD I'm with you, a 75% Yao is still a top five center now days but I cringe at potentially seeing Yao go down again with a foot issue.
Well that is a different situation entirely, I don't THINK Yao will give it another go, but I would leave that door open if he did. DD
If Shaq can be considered for the Orlando GM job, Yao should be considered for our GM job. Les giterdone, we need to start selling sponsorships in China again.
I love Yao, but this. My boy hasn't hit the court in almost 2 years at this point, the feet can't take the work. He is more business man/diplomat then player these days. The only way for Yao to be on a active team at this point, is if he is coaching. Maybe one day Les might sell the team to him but I doubt that is anytime soon.
