    Yes. Yes I can.

D2 Barbarian: One mana-leech weapon, one life-leech weapon. Dump all points in Whirlwind. Go. Works on all difficulty levels.
D3 Barbarian: Oh snap, I have to use something besides just Whirlwind over and over.

Except both those things are problematic. If items you crafted always helped your own class, crafting would be too powerful. If drops were made into a 2nd-class way of getting the best items, people would have less incentive to go out and fight (play the game). Same premise for the 2nd point. If you let people get all equipment for their class too fast, they'll have less incentive to play. Diablo has always been, at its core, "the hunt for better stuff." Make finding the best stuff too easy, and you have less reason to play.

Pretty much. Blues are 1-3 effects, rares are 4-7 I think. That's the only difference. And sometimes you find an item with 7 effects, but they're all useless. Nothing sadder in this game than a useless rare.

That being said I'm making a killing off selling loot in this game. Thanks to the AH I can take advantage of all the lazy people that want to pay their way through this game.

I see you leveled your Sherwin-Williams spell. Geez.

I'm playing a Wizard, too. I'm just playing Normal. It's been pretty fun, but still undecided if I'll play it again.

I hope you guys are still debating whether the game is awesome/sucks in 18 months or so. I think by that time, I'll decide that Activision/Blizzard have suffered long enough from my boycott (and surely they'll change the way they do business), and then I can add something to these discussions.

Although it has practically limitless replay value, I am already bored. It's just click click click click

But at that point, we'll all be talking about the expansion pack...so you'll be all alone in vanilla D3.

Man, I was making such good progress on my backlog of games before ME3 and Diablo...

Question, is the first run through as long as D2?

Length seems roughly the same to me. Complete with a final act that's about half as long as the others.

I think the debate will continue for at least 18 more days.

The length will also vary depending on if you explore every optional dungeon, and there is a decent selection of random quests/dungeons that are cycled in every game to make it slightly different on replays.

I found out that while life steal is nerfed to 20% effectiveness in inferno, apparently life on hit is not nerfed at all, making it a more effective choice for healing as seen in this video where a barb with an 800+ life on hit weapon solo's inferno diablo:

There is also a good video on gearing a barbarian for inferno here:

I came across this video on youtube and it's a very interesting take on the flaws of Diablo 3. I pretty much agree with everything that was said in this video.

I really like Diablo and its history and hope blizzard is seeing what this guy in the video is seeing. I want to play Diablo 3 in the long run but as it is right now I'm already getting put off by the fact that my 60 monk on inferno is basically useless because of mechanics that make it no fun for you to want to "rise to the challenge"

How many acts are there until the end? I got to the final big encounter in Act 2 yesterday, and I don't feel like I've been playing long. That was the first time I actually had to use any kind of strategy other than spamming spells for the most part as well. It was the first time I died because of something other than IM'ing people during a fight or a drive utility firing off, too. Of course, I'm on Normal mode, so that's not saying much. lol.

I think IV? I just finished normal and right away I'm noticing how much harder it is. And it's only Nightmare but pack of white mobs are getting me low on health if I'm not careful. I only had to mindlessly click previously as Barbarian.

In the demo, I loved disintegration. Is it possible to just roll with that?

It's difficult. It's great in narrow chokes, but in later stages you need to move around a lot and you can't cast it while moving, so it's a bit detrimental in that way.

It's four acts, but Act IV is much shorter than the rest (easily clearable in < 1 hour). You'll find as you move up in difficulty, regular enemies increase in difficulty on a fairly linear scale, but they start hitting pretty hard. Elite packs, on the other hand, progress in difficulty exponentially and generally start to become unfair. Vortex, mortars, invulnerable minions and extra health, anyone?

My advice to those playing in normal difficulty for the first time - try to avoid using the Auction House. People are selling rare items for cheap because they can't sell them for much anyway to the in-game vendors. I made the mistake of buying this gear from the AH and am overpowered. It has completed ruined the experience for me. I don't even bother picking up most of the loot because it's several levels below what I have equipped. I just pick up gold and move along. Hopefully things will get a little more challenging at higher difficulty levels.
