I truly cannot believe that this thread has 279 posts. There is not a definitive answer here. And probably no middle ground.

Basketball is a TEAM game. A guard needs a good CENTER to make his life easier. A center needs a good guard to make his life easier too. Without Kobe, his replacement is freaking D Ebanks, that make the center life difficult!

Actually, he shot closer to 47% over those 7 games. But what's interesting is that he shot less than 40% 3 times, and in those 3 games, his rebounding numbers were 16, 18, and 30.

Oscar Robertson and Jerry West were both better than Kobe.

Kobe is a career shotjacker. Never shot close to 50% from the field. If Bird or LeBron were as selfish as Kobe they would have more scoring titles because they are WAY more efficent than KoBrick

Also Jerry West loves propping up Kobe as better than he, simply because he loves being the man that made a gamble on a draft day trade and turned into gold. Jerry West is better than Kobe( and performed better in the playoffs). Bill Russell and those Cemtics teams were stacked

    Preach

MJ would have given his bigs the damn ball especially if he was inefficent in the 4th quarter

    Selfish player

You have Kobe ahead of Moses Malone?

I do. I think Kobe's and Moses's primes are equivalent and the insane length of Kobe's career means that he's a better player.

That said, Kobe's somewhere between 10th and 12th. I like to break things down by tiers rather than numbers, so my tiers are:

    Jordan

    Russell-Kareem-Magic

    Shaq-Wilt-Duncan-Bird-Dream

    Kobe-Garnett-Erving-West

    Oscar-Malone (both of them)-Lebron

I'm good with the below other than I'd move Magic down a tier and Wilt up one. Although Duncan is finishing his career strong, I'd put him down a tier as well, I think his competition at the front line mainly C-which he really is a C has been week most of his career. You look back at how Duncan played against the Pistons in 2005(a real front line) he struggled. True he beat up on the 99 Knicks, 03 Nets, and 07 Cavs but those front lines and teams were not very good.

In 1999 and 2003, Duncan's Spurs got to the finals by going through Shaq's Lakers. You can't just look at his finals opponents.

As much as I hate Kobe/the Fakers, and think aspects of his game are overrated (specifically defense and "clutch" shooting), I am not watching a 10 min video rant about him...

Calling Kobe the most overrated player ever, is an admission that you don't know anything about basketball. Literally lost all credibility. Whoever made that video is a poser.

Both those teams were not very good-Shaq's Lakers in 1999(Kobe was a kid and Dale Harris was the coach). And he had Robinson playing Shaq.

The 2003 Lakers were way past their prime. After the 3-peat(which they robbed from the Kings) they were done. The best team that year was the Kings(Webber Injury)and the Spurs didn't have to play them. The Spurs beat the Mavs in 6 in a Dirk-less Western Conference finals who was also injured. The Spurs and Duncan have always had the easiest paths to their championships minus the 2005 Pistons the only really good team they ever beat.

Duncan is fortunate again this year by not having to go against the Lakers or Bulls front line. Possibly a Bosh less front line too.

If I wrote Bill Simmons article last month, I would have put an asterisks next to 3 of the 4 Spurs Championships at the top.

Name the top 5 teams with really good front lines as well that Duncan has beat in the playoffs in his career.

it matters the context of the word overrated. People have many different connotations.

Isn't LEBRON the most OVERRATED player in NBA History?

I'm mean he's a great player and all but coming out being known as the

    "CHOSEN ONE" and "KING"

you would think by year 10 he would have 3-4 rings by now, but 0

at least Kobe has 5 rings.

Pacers bench have killed them these last 3 games.

They need to play Granger the same minutes LeBron plays.

Hibbert needs to play 36+ if they want to win.
