This is absolutely nonsensical logic. Its Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3. The whole ****ing point is to build it off the original. Innovation? Leave that for new Blizzard IPs. Starcraft sucks? LOL.

Take a look at how Bioware evolved? Mass Effect 3 sucked. Dragon Age 2, absolute steaming pile of ****. Lmfao. Its funny how you mention that Bioware evolves through DIFFERENT IPs whereas you chastise Blizzard for making a SEQUEL that BUILDS on the ORIGINAL GAME.

Blizzard has made the most successful trifecta of series of all time. Starcraft, Warcraft, Diablo.

Think about that for a second; Bioware can't touch Blizzard. Bethesda yes.

They're probably mad because Diablo 3 isn't open-world MMORPG Skyrim. That's not the fault of the developers, that's a fault of them expecting Diablo to be something its not.

It baffles me to see people expect Diablo 3 to be more like Skyrim or Dragon Age when the whole point is to build off the past titles of the SERIES.

Right. You're trolling and have no actual reasons for anything you're saying. That's sort of what I thought was happening.

    Haters gonna hate.

Me trolling? That idiot is always full of himself. Always thinking his opinions is above everyone else. The idiot is on my ignore list for so long now and still he's trolling me.

If you're coming back to do a game that's 10 yrs old and come back 10 yrs later with just graphics improvement. It just to show how lazy and non innovative the company is. I've already played enough of D2 and I don't really care if I never will play D3 because it's bringing nothing new to the table in game play. What's the ****ing point of turning it into 3D when all the characters and camera move in a linear or like the 2D/sprites diablo1/2? Zoom in, zooming out. Wow, great innovation.

And yet again you have declined to describe how you think it could be made better.

Like I said, it's fine you don't like the game. I don't care. People like different things in games. I still like playing King's Field 2 for the PS1, which is 16 years old, and most people hated it when it first came out, let alone now. On the other side of things, I dislike Starcraft, Age of Empires, and all that other RTS stuff. It just doesn't interest me, but lots of other people like it. That's fine, I'm glad those other people are having a good time.

But what I just don't get is what these hypothetical "new features" or "innovations" for D3 that you speak of could possibly be.

Once again, Diablo is about playing a hero from a isometric perspective and using powers to blast enemies, leveling up and collecting loot as you go. Those are the core elements of the gameplay -- change them, and it's not really Diablo anymore, it's something else. If you can think of ways to make the game better than it is within the bounds of these core elements, I'd like to hear them, I really would. But for right now it sounds like you're complaining that Diablo 3 is bad because it's Diablo, rather than Mass Effect or Dragon Age. That's like me saying I don't like a basketball videogame because it's not a hockey videogame. If that's the case, and you're just bored of the whole Diablo formula altogether, then move on, and stop whining about they haven't innovated without explaining where the game could be better. They innovated plenty within the bounds of the series, particularly with the skill system.

The fact that you can switch skills any time you want is dumbing it down. It was a more difficult game before. Now you can just be like "this isn't working" and swap it. I never had an issue with the previous system, I liked it better in fact.

I'm not saying that doesn't improve the game for most, and I'm not saying they need to go back to the old way of doing it. If you can still deny that makes the game easier, then I don't know what to say.

There's nothing innovative about how they've done the new skill system. As for "suggesting changes" to make it better? For one, how about having items that you craft actually have stats tailored to your character? There's a thought! Or giving the option to have a weighted preference on what stats appear; maybe it doesn't happen everytime or throws in a random one periodically. Or maybe not dropping loot for every class except for my own, when I'm the only one that can pick up loot in my game?

I don't remember saying the game was "worse" than D2. What I said was for the wait period I'm disappointed with what was done in the game. Other games attempt to add new features to the game to make it more interesting. What's the big new feature for this one? The auction house?

Anyway, I'm not really sure why I have to justify my opinion on the game. I didn't say I didn't like it, and I didn't say it was bad. I just am not enamored with it like I have been in the previous iteration.

Uh...yeah I'm really mad about that. When did I compare Diablo to any other RPG except Diablo clones at all? Yeah, I didn't.

Having options and giving players flexibility is dumbing it down? One thing that is clear is that the same build doesn't work in all difficulty levels. Early on, you can get away with tons of bad builds. Then in nm/hell, you begin to figure out a spec that works... until the next boss/difficulty level. My spec has evolved over time. Even though my spec worked fine for A1 inferno, we get our asses handed to us in the first elite pack of A2. I can't imagine what a cluster**** it would be for people stuck with 1 spec with inferno being as difficult as it is.

Used to agree with it, but D3 is a different game than WoW. There is no BOP/BOE, and items crafted stay in circulation forever until vendored/salvaged. They needed to make it harder to get great gear.

    Just my 2c.

The new skills are great, you don't have to create four or five different build for one type of character. Why is it so fun to be stuck playing one style?

They did similar **** going from Fable 1 to Fable 2 to Fable 3. Same thing with Modern Warfare -> MW2 -> MW3. Yes...it's dumbing the game down. Is the flexibility of just picking whatever you want, whenever you want nice? Yes. Is it immensely easier? Yep. Is it dumbing the game down? Yes...

I'm not even saying it should have been done differently. All I said was it's easy-mode. Anyway, I'm done discussing it. People want to turn very simple points into these convoluted and pointless arguments.

Not sure where the WoW reference came from. It's not hard to get great gear. Log out of game. Enter auction house. Search. Purchase. Spend 5K gold and get something you better than you would have ever gotten dropped to you.

I agree with this statement 100%. There is a reason DIII is now the fastest selling PC game of all time. Folks wanted "Diablo". They didn't want DA:O or Skyrim. If they wanted those games, they would have purchased those games. I find it laughable that anyone would purchase this game expecting anything other than another "Diablo style" adventure. There is really no argument here.

Truth. Play the game further than Normal difficulty and you will see that being able to swap skills is the most innovative thing about this game. It makes battles unbelievably more strategic. Can't wait for the PVP portion to release.

It's definitely not just D2 with better graphics. The skill system is completely different and in my opinion better. Shared stash, auction house, easier to use friends lists, and a much more difficult end game, along with the way weapons dps affects all classes including casters are all changes. I will say they didn't innovate in as far as add something that NO other game has done before, but over all it is a pretty enjoyable game for me. There is an incentive at max level not to switch skills mid fight or when you get to a boss or elite pack thru the nephalem magic find/gold bonus which stacks up to 5 times, every time you kill an elite pack of mobs. It resets if you leave the game, change skills or change levels. So the skill changes just lets you try out new abilities rather than have to plan out your build before you even start playing based on someone else's experiences and recommendations. But once you are max level you are encouraged to stick with one build for that play session or lose your buff. I wouldn't mind if they changed it so you could only do change skills in town though.

There is room for improvement though:

I think that it will be hard pressed to hold my interest nearly as long as D2 did, as D2 is a game I have come back to several times over the years long after release and enjoyed playing thru. I agree that the ease of respeccing will hurt the desire to replay from level 1 with a class you have already reached lvl 60 with even though I generally like that option. But having a gold cost to respec might have been a good idea even if it isn't that high.

I think the leveling process to get to 60 is probably too fast. Originally I was expecting the process of getting to level cap to take about as long as it did to reach lvl 99 in D2, but it isn't any where close to that. I expected to spend a long, long time at hell difficulty on each character, but you are likely to hit level cap just by running thru each difficulty once.

Once you hit inferno it can be more frustrating than challenging when you face elite and rare mobs that are unkiteable/invulnerable/damage reflecting or whatever combination of negative traits that makes any attempt to beat them completely reliant on your gear or wearing them down over multiple corpse runs rather than any sort of skillful play. I question the decision to make those mobs tougher than the boss fights in general.

They need to add the ability to look at the auction house while you are in game. At 60 you get a nephalem bonus for killing elite mob groups which increases your gold and magic find and stacks up to 5 times, but you lose it if you change specs or leave the level or game, so it sucks not to be able to put a few things up on auction while you are in the middle of one of those runs.

I think the crafting is questionable prior to max level, and even then requires some of the inferno drop crafting plans to possibly be profitable. Even then it may take quite a few expensive attempts before you get one that pays off. Otherwise you are better off buying from the auction house and getting exactly what you want. I do kind of miss the rune words from D2 as well which gave you more specific stat line ranges for different combinations.

I think some of the tool tips are decieving, such as the life steal which they don't make clear that it is nerfed significantly in every difficulty past normal to the point that in inferno you are only getting 20% of the amount it says. So my 2.3% life leeching crossbow is actually only leeching 0.46% and my 50,000 damage crit is only healing me for 230 hp instead of 1150.

When you are looking at weapon dps in the auction house it doesn't factor in how the primary stats like intelligence for a wizard or dex for a demon hunter will adjust that DPS, so it is quite possible that a weapon which says it has a lower dps in the AH is actually better for you than one with a listed higher dps because of those primary stats.

There is no easy way to see how much a non-weapon piece of gear on the auction house will adjust your dps short of doing the math manually. I also think the legendarys should be superior to all other equipment in their item level range, but they often are not.

The always online part can also be annoying though to be fair unless the server was down I would probably always play online anyway.

The elective mode option where you can customize what skills go to what hotkey should be more clearly explained to new players.

It would also be nice if the skills actually told you exactly how much damage each one did with a particular weapon equipped rather than just give you the %.

I like the game, and have played it alot, but there is room for improvement and hopefully they will.

My counter question is this, would you have preferred the alternative to level another character to max level for each spec you want like D2? a WW barb, a frenzy barb, a cry-barb, etc? How does it add to the game, or "make it hard", except as a pure time sink? What if you have a level 60 whatever, and after a patch the build is suddenly useless? How'd you feel?

I think those are valid questions.

In WoW, you know the exact stat of what you're crafting, there's no RNG. I thought it's a fair comparison.

What you said about AH is true... for now. Wait till we get gold inflation + more sample size of yellows with perfect rolls that'll cost you more than a pretty penny.

Lol. It being the fastest selling PC game of all time has nothing to do with any of what he said, or it not being like Skyrim, or whatever. It's the fastest selling PC game for several reasons: Diablo/2 is one of the most popular games ever. Activision is great at promoting video games. 12 year wait. It's a Blizzard game; at this point people buy them just because it's Blizzard. There's about 10,000,000 people who subscribe to WoW right now, and I bet at least a million of them bought Diablo 3.

Damn near every year a new game breaks prior sales records, just like the movie industry. It's because there's more people spending more money on these things. Video games are also a lot more main stream now than they've ever been. It broke sales records before there were even reviews out for it. Say what you want about the game, but don't make it seem like it broke sales records because it's some incredible groundbreaking epic.

Note: Since some genius will undoubtedly attack me for this. Again, let me state I believe it's a very good game and it's fun. I just think some people are drinking a little too much of the kool-aid. Reminds me of Call of Duty fanboys in fact.

Wouldn't this be dumbing down of the crafting and loot dropping system and, in your own words, making it too easy?
