i'll be honest...i didn't think we had another push towards .500 in us this season. pretty damn impressive resilience this season.
Astros are playing winning ball at home. No if somehow they could play at least .500 ball on the road...
No one tanks for a draft pick in MLB...but nice try. "Hey if we win, I'll gloat...if we lose...I'll say we are tanking! That's the ticket!"
lol ya. who in the world tank in baseball? either you are very good or very bad. 1st round picks are guaranteed to be good in baseball. btw, roy o could sign with the rangers. i want him to win a ring, but not with the team i hate the most. FML
"only" 3 of them. Downs walked with the bases loaded and Altuve got one on a HBP right after. Only 3.5 out of first and 2 games under .500 right now. Tough road trip coming, though. I was hoping to plan a trip to see a customer in LA around the Astros going there but it turns out I'm here now and leave tomorrow.
What do you want me to say? That we suck? Of course we suck. I'm content with missing the playoffs and getting the 1st pick though. I'll consider it "tanking" whether it's actually tanking or not.
You don't tank in baseball because the draft has 40 rounds (used to have even more) and superstars can be found incredibly late. Examples: Pujols in the 13th round, Oswalt in the 23rd round, Piazza in the 62rd round... the list goes on. The MLB draft is not anywhere CLOSE to as top-loaded as the NBA or NFL drafts, and drafting smart is more important than drafting early. Don't get me wrong, the earlier you pick the better, and the first pick is quite valuable. Just not nearly to the extent of in other sports. Tanking isn't worth it when you can win just be being smarter than the other teams.
